Eerie similarities with today's Covid19 coronavirus pandemic.

Anyone else think that the invisible virus in this movie almost predicted the tough coronavirus pandemic we've been having last year and this year by at least 11 years?

No, I have heard people speak of how the current situation makes them think of various apocalyptic scenarios but I, despite having a bit too much imagination, don't see it. The Happening is another apocalypse, this one without zombies, but the essence is the same; mass death, society crumbles...
Our response to Covid has been vastly more cautious than to the 1918 pandemic, despite the fact that it is only a tenth as lethal. This closing down of so much off our lives and the consequent catastrophic effects on small business, will be worse over time, but it is a slow motion societal upheaval. There have been nearly two million deaths and even if that doubles it will still be less than a quarter of the lowest estimate of deaths due to Spanish Flu (and a twentieth of the high estimates). So most of the effect of Covid19 is about our reaction to it, and even that is different from a situation where the low-end estimate has 1% of everybody on Earth dead in a couple of years - with the vigorous young being the most affected.

I think what's similar is that they all had to spread out and be in smaller and smaller groups.

Yea that spreading out into smaller groups seems similar yea but the covid thing to me was overblown.
