Good movie, but just ruined by the crap camerawork.

I enjoyed it, the action was good, Damon was good, the plot was fast paced, and it was never boring.

But seriously, the camera work was just awful. Seriously, as well as the horrible grain in the night scenes we had this jerky movements going on all the time. Someone should tell Greengrass that the time to experiment with new cameras is not on a $100million movie.

Unfortunately we probably have to wait for the next generation to grow up and start using tripods again.

I suppose that in war films, part of the realism mindset is to cover action sequences as if the cameraman was an embedded press bod.

Hence the use of smaller kit as if it was being captured on ENG kit or Auricons in films set earlier. Possibly following Spielberg's instruction to his cameramen when shooting Saving Private Ryan that they were to act as Royal Signals cameramen.

this is intentionally done by crappy action directors because they don't know what they are doing, just paid a lot of money by the CIA to do a piece of crappy propaganda pretending to be anti american, but obviously mr damon is naive.

I actually really liked the film grain in those night scenes. Because it's just like our real eyes, when we see dark night scenes, our eye actually pick up grains also. I like this new approach to shooting night scenes. It just makes it more realistic.

I'm not a huge fan of shaky-cam, but at the same time I really like the Bourne films as I do this film, where with Greengrass's pedigree I was expecting more shaky cam...and got it.

I think it does work in films such as this and The Hurt Locker where the intention is to place you right in the midst of the action, rather than as an all-seeing observer.

However I'm the first to admit that there are plenty of films where it doesn't work and is just plain annoying, not to mention headache inducing.

Yeah, way too jerky. Drunken monkey on a pogo stick. Understand how it induces stress and makes the movie more exciting, but too much of a gimmick to carry a lot of weight that way. Seems over-used, because it is. Ultimately a distraction.

I liked the camerawork as it involves you in the action and brings a great sense of realism to films.
