The line ''I knew he was a keeper'' ruined it

I was enjoying the film until the female 'love interest' said it right after he told her he was ''just saving the world''. Made me cringe. Do people say things like that, out loud, to themselves in a public place?

They say whatever the author chooses. If you are not the author then it is not your choice what the characters say. People in general say a lot of silly things all the time and many of them dubbed cliche. I'm not saying this line is cliche but men are not a good judge usually of what the average person will say. This is why they are so critical of a lot of movies. People say simple minded things, things others say "like" repeatedly. There will always be things in movies like this that people will slice and dice but to really enjoy a movie quit trying to analyze it or match it to real science. It is a science fiction story and the characters will say what the author, director, or sometimes the actors envision and not the audience. The movie is really good and very clever.

WHY YOU ALL MAKE SUCH BIG OF A DEAL ABOUT THIS LINE? It isn't something so much special. A romantic sub-plot... So what? It gives him another reason to fight for a better future and for somebody to care about.

Who was the first that forged the deadly blade? Of rugged steel his savage soul was made - Tibullus

What happened with this movie in the final 30 minutes? This line and the quintessential 90's Hollywood happy ending.
