Movie should have ended at the freeze frame kiss

Forget about all the arguments of parallel universes and all that other mumbo jumbo. The freeze when they kiss and the camera pans to show everybody laughing was a very cinematic ending to the story. Maybe add in the part of Farminga in the locked room terminating the program with the scientist slamming on the door.

I don't care to discuss the plausibility of science in the film, or the ramifications of what it really means, yada yada yada.

The freeze frame kiss was a great moment. It was tragic and beautiful at the same time. I thought it was a more satisfying conclusion.

Overall I liked the movie and rated it 7/10. I had my second viewing today and am sticking with that rating.

Bar the rating, those were my thoughts, also.

I agree, that ending would have a deeper impact than what occurred after.

Just watched the movie and thought exactly the same. What a bittersweet ending it would have been!
I would have felt a lot more happier if the movie would have ended with the freeze frame and the Captain pushing the termination button.

it may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to act as a warning to others

Yeah that would have made it a better film, for sure.
Nice post.

Like all the others, I agree. That was a great scene, and it left me wondering how Gyllenhal's consciousness would have continued in this teacher's brain.. kind of interesting philosophical musings happened afterwards, but there was certainly no explanation for it in the film. I thought the text to the lady could have been included maybe before he kissed the girl so we could get that rather clever last morsel, that the program was working and preventing attacks but then changing the course of the future.

100% AGREED! wouldve given it a 10/10 then.... now gave it a 7/10 -_-

Perfection Doesn't Exist, But You Have to Look For It Anyway

It seems everyone agrees. Add my name to the list. Still, I gave it 7, despite the stupid actual ending.

I couldn't disagree more. Alright, fine, that was a nice cinematic moment and it was clear from how long the shot held that they likely had that considered at some point. But it wouldn't have been nearly as memorable. Continuing after that, adding these dark implications of Colton having basically stolen this guy's body (accidentally or not), with possibly more universes presenting themselves endlessly as the program is played out again and again, makes it far more interesting.
