Season 6 reveals the hodor past and Fate. That arc was truly sad but well written. Is it the Same in the Books?

sorry I did not switch my ipad to english language...there is no sectret behind the capitalized letters.

It is not explained in the books, as they are unfinished. And won't be finished.
