Will there ever be a show this hot again?
One where the message boards explode the night a new episode drops? One where fans speculate and theorize about every tiny detail? Seems like we haven’t had a show this big since GOT.

shareWhen Hollywood bounces back from its woke fetish phase, and remembers that its here to entertain, not lecture, then sure. We could get another show with levels of hype like GoT, The Walking Dead, and Lost.
Until then, Disney Plus shows were doing a decent job at capturing that kind of hype, particularly with The Mandolorian and WandaVision.
I didn’t watch those Disney shows. Didn’t seem like stories I would like.
shareI was pleasantly surprised by Loki.
shareI don't think the "Mandalorian" chatter ever reached the heights of "GoT" episode-by-episode anticipation and dissection.
I hope that happens again but I won't be surprised if it doesn't, it had been decade since I'd been so involved with a TV show... and I was rather crushed when it all went to hell in the last season. I don't know if I'll ever get so deeply invested in a show again.

shareSimultaneously looking forward to that one and hoping they don't screw it up.
shareGoT never even reached half of the ratings of TWD
shareI never got into that. The white walkers were not my favorite part of the GOT story.
shareTWD had higher viewership overall but not by that much. TWD lost viewers steadily beginning in S7 when Rick kowtowed to Negan, big debbie downer for the series.
I got curious and threw together some numbers.
Peak average viewers in millions:
GOT : 12 million
TWD : 14.4 million
Lost : 17.8 million
Breaking Bad : 5.9 million
Sopranos : 11 million
TWD posters are rabid too.
shareI thought The Queen's Gambit (although it only ran for seven episodes) was a better show all things considered than Game of Thrones. But it lacked in the Badassdom Department so its appeal was limited to a narrower audience than GoT.
I liked thatseries a lot, but it is a one-season only story. I guess it could come back with new chess challenges for the champ but it would have to be as clever or moreso to get beyondthe obviousness of that device.
