Whats the point of the north being an independent kingdom

When the King is a fucking Stark? I get the North not liking bowing down to a Targaryen ruler, but i couldn't see them having any problem with bowing to a Stark King.

Theres no point in Sansa wanting the north to be an independent Kingdom for any other reason, she just did it because she wants to have power and be queen. Selfish bitch.

Sansa is the smartest one among those noble houses because she is thinking ahead. Tyrion tricks the rest thinking there will be another election when Bran die since he couldn't have his heir. I was laughing at that point: How old was the previous three-eyed raven? Over a thousand years old!

reply

He was 125 years old.

According to the Game of Thrones wiki https://gameofthrones.fandom.com/wiki/Three-Eyed_Raven he’s over a thousands years old. However those wikis can be wrong, and I don’t remember when (if at all) the 3ER’s age was addressed.

So, in which ep it was mentioned?

EDIT:
Oooops… sorry, the answer’s right there in the wiki, didn’t see that before. According to them, in S06E03 ("Oathbreaker") the 3ER says he’s been waiting "a thousand years" for Bran.

reply

because she is thinking ahead

That’s it.
At some point, there will be a different king – we don’t know if Sansa knows how old a 3ER can get, and moreover, Kings are known to occasionally die before their time.

What better time to declare independence than the moment when your brother is made King? Even if he hadn’t agreed, it was unlikely that he’d shout "Off with her head!"

I think so too. She always had a fairy tale type view of her place in the world. Now, instead of marrying a romantic heir to the throne (Joffrey), she gets to sit on the throne herself. Typical Sansa. I'm not sure why Bran went along with it though other than for her vote.

reply

So she can build up her army and siege engines in secret, then sack King's Landing in a few years and rule the Seven Kingdoms.

reply

Well, it's not it's not like th he other six kingdoms or the crown did diddly-squat to help the North during the war against the undead.

reply

Dany did quite a bit to help and Sansa didn’t care.

reply

Yes, Danerys helped, for all the thanks she got, but the incumbent on the iron throne and the other six kingdoms did squat.

Which might explain why Sansa wanted independence after generations of being loyal subjects of the monarch, but who knows. In the mad rush to finish the show, Sansa was never given a moment to explain her reasons.

reply

Does Vale count as a separate kingdom from the North? Because Lord Royce did bring help with the Battle of the Bastards and I'm quite sure his forces were still there during the Battle of the Short Night and even followed Jon to Kings landing.

reply

Yeah, but it wasnt the rulers of the Vale who helped out of loyalty or to aid humanity, they came because Sansa played some very dangerous games with Litlefinger.

reply

So they can stay out of all that other crap..If only it had been so with Ned in the beginning.
