Danny is like an unstoppable force now and she has all the army and the dragon on her side. She decimated King's Landing thus eliminating any opposing forces. Who would dare go against her now? She just won the Game of Thrones.
shareShe's poisoned her own legacy by what she did. There are enough survivors in the rubble that the story of the city surrendering and Dany burning it to the ground anyway, soldiers, common folk, innocent people with their children alike, no mercy for the innocent, will get out. How can she pretend to be the benevolent breaker of chains now? She can't. The people are going to hate her just like they hated her father. What Jaime killed him for planning to do, Dany just did.
Jon will have to do something now. Arya is going to ride back to Winterfell and tell Sansa what happened (confirming her worst fears about Daenerys). Then the North will declare itself independent. If Jon doesn't renounce her after the massacre at King's Landing, he'll be forced to turn against her when she starts planning a campaign against his homeland.
Jon taking the throne is the only way I can see this ending. Because of his Targ blood, he may be unburnable too, or at least the dragons sense it or something. He will overthrow the mad queen or someone else does but he becomes the ruler as everyone will push him to do so.
shareJon is weakling he won't be taking the throne. Sansa would take it before him.
shareDon't be so sure. I figure that, regardless of who ends up clearing a path for him, so to speak, the way he took over the Night's Watch will sorta mirror his ascent to the Iron Throne. He may be reluctant, but a reluctant leader is usually a better leader for his people.
shareThe writers will contrive a way, even if they do it hamhandedly. It looks like Dany has won right now, and if the show is going to stay true to form, that expectation (of her coasting through the next episode) will be subverted.
