Bad idea to wait an extra year.

We would have been almost into the new season by now. How many people will not bother to tune in after two years? I probably will, but it will be a little hard getting back into it after all that time.

People will watch. Heck, Star Wars still draws them in after long, long gaps. They better re-run last season just before to get everyone back up to speed.

It was smart of them to release Rogue One and Solo in the off years between the main films. I read somewhere that HBO is going to push season 7 for the Emmys this year since they missed the cutoff last year. It would be really cool if they released some kind of new material this year, beyond what they do for the blu-ray releases.

They had to postpone season 8 for a whole year, simply because the story has not been written yet.

I agree..I'll be watching..
The excitement will mount again as it draws nearer..
And since it is the final season; I'm ok with it. Fans will be back..

I don't think it was a decision, by the way, but a necessity.
First of all it had to be written and the episodes will be super long with a great deal of CGI which takes TIME..Also, the advantage they had previously of filming simultaneously in multiply locations is no longer there. Most of the cast will , for the first time, all be in the same place. Then mucho editing..

Yeah, there's this thing called "video on demand." I can bring myself back up to speed on GoT any time that I want.
