Feels very Fan-servicey...

like the whole group including gendry got together to go north. what do u guys think?

also feels very rushed.

reply

My exact thoughts. Just finished watching it. Rushed, convenient.

With this show, usually means a twist is coming. Like how everything was working out just fine before the Red Wedding.

"Still rowing"

That's pretty clearly a nod to online chatrooms, where people have been describing Gendry with those words for years.
I half-expected Davos to look into the camera and wink. A little too much fourth wall for me.

Getting the raiding party together didn't bother me too much. But it did feel reminiscent of assembling the fellowship in LOTR, or Dumbledore's Army, or the Seven Samurai, etc. I guess you need to explain why everyone is getting together for a mission, but I would have been just as happy if they met up on the road into Eastwatch and just rode in together, a la Silverado.

They did the same with Olenna and the sand snakes last season. So many comments about how annoying they were and she tells them STFU and let the grown women talk.

I think they wanted to keep Jessica Henwick's character. She said they had plans for her into this season, but her schedule was not so great now that she's doing multiple projects with Marvel (a nice way of saying she asked to be written off the show). They had to fly her in on her off day for the sea battle scenes.

I like it very much Bobby!
Like a medieval 'Expendables' sequal lol
I cant wait for next week to see what the toughest gang in Westeros gets mixed up in ;)

These past few seasons there have been time jumps that isn't made very clear on the show to account for travel time.

reply

I agree with you. OTOH it's like a dream team of my favorite characters, so I can't complain too much.

reply

Agreed
Those guys are gonna wreck shit next sunday

It is jarring because the first few seasons were so painstakingly slow and deliberate and detailed. Now characters are found in convenient places and motivations. And if they aren't they change course to suit what needs to happen very quickly. If I were a fan of danaerys all this time I'd be furious. How weak

I agree, they're certainly packing a lot in now and it's kind of hard to keep up sometimes and definitely easy to miss things. Although it feels like not much happened this episode (because it didn't have so much action), there are a lot of things which I'm sure are going to come up later... like Littlefingers note, what is his plan for Arya??? Cersei being pregnant again, Sam now the heir to the Tarly fortunes, Sam reading about Raegar getting an annulment... lots of little seeds planted this episode!
