This might be an obvious question (SPOILERS)

Stating the bleeding obvious, but why doesn't Dany just hop on one of her dragons, fly North and check out the walkers for herself? Burn a few whilst she's there, burn the lot! That way she'll get the alliance from the North that she wants and a bigger army to march on Cersei.

I know she's got an agenda/busy schedule, but surely for the bigger picture she's got to concede that it's not a bad idea... if she can waste time flying around the ocean trying to find Greyjoy, then surely this is a better use of time?!

I think that the multitude of the dead and the White Walkers would even be a lot for just her and the dragons. Plus she is kind of the middle of something right now and that's trying to take over Kings Landing.

I think the second part is true - she's tunnel visioned in that sense... but I do think she and the dragons could take out the white walker army. It depends whether all the magic that created the Night King in the first place is also destroyed and can never return.

reply

i think she wanted to ride a dragon to go destroy Euron's navy, but Tyrion told her not to because they can't spare her.

Reckon if she said I'll go burn all the whitewalkers - plus she knows where they are - North heading South towards the wall - he'd be supportive. And that's an enormous army in a wasteland, easy to spot.

He doesn't want her to waste her time flying round flying around an ocean trying to find ships - however I think he should let her do that as well.

How big is Westeros though? Can she simply fly over within a few hours or will it take days?

Even then, she has just lost battle after battle, I don't think she has the time to do that. She doesn't even believe Jon unfortunately.

In S07E01, Jon said: "There's a thousand miles between us and Cersei", but we don't know if that’s the exact distance or more a figure of speech.
When Arya left the Inn at the Crossroads in S07E02, one of the other travellers said: "200 miles to King's Landing".

Both statements indicate that there’s roughly a thousands miles between Dragonstone and the Wall, too.
We don’t know how fast the dragons can fly, and we don’t know how much a Westerosi mile actually is. For example, Wikipedia says: »The "old English mile" of the medieval and early modern periods varied but seems to have measured about 1.3 international miles«. Since GoT takes a lot from the european mediaeval times, a Westoris mile might refer to measurement – and, even more likely, a "mile" might not be a strictly defined as it is nowadays.

However, it’d say that even on dragonback, it’d be a matter of several days. One way.

Thanks, it reminded me of Everworld tbh.

I absolutely agree. She could go on a recon mission and confirm all of this shit.

Thank you! :) Nothing to be lost, a lot of knowledge to be gained, and if she was to defeat the white walkers with her dragons the whole of the North would be behind her.

But obviously that's too easy and wouldn't make for dramatic TV.
