I compared imdb shutdown aftermath to GOT, in real life

Someone asked me how I was doing today, and I said, "Well, it's interesting...the movie website imdb shut down its 20-year-old discussion boards a day early, and...now it's like..."

(they were just staring at me at this point)

"Um, it's kind of like that show, Game of Thrones? Where everyon's struggling for power? See...there's like about 4 different 'baby site' discussion boards, now...and everyone wants to be the new big one." (pause) "So, it's kind of like that. Kind...of."

It's not so fun to comment on these clone boards. Why? Imdb had its nose deep up the liberal nonsense, so being extra skeptical and critical towards certain types of movies was so much more fun. You know - revolt against authority.

I feel your pain Cookie.L.A.! I've mentioned it to a few friends and they're like "Meh". There's money in this story somehow. I'm not quite sure how but somehow. You know what they say about money.

Haha, nice one Cookie. Yeah, I guess it's like a power struggle for many - going between the boards promoting the other. I'm pretty sure we have trolls here just wanting to sour things so people go to one of the other ones.

I for one feel this site is a perfect continuation of the IMDB-boards, and just try to help create activity around in the series- and movie-boards I'm interested in.

So after 17 some years of King Robert's reign all the way through to A Game of Thrones, we now find ourselves in the A Clash of Kings era, where all these forums are vying to be the replacement for the IMDB message boards?

Interesting analogy, I like it. I just hope this doesn't mean MovieChat.org is the bastid Lannister child born of incest between IMDB and IMDB pro, but rather the true heir to IMDB's throne, the one true king: Stannis I Baratheon, first of his name.

There was an extreme Stannis-lover in imdb GoT boards. was it gabste or someone else, can't remember. They were all the same to me.
