I was wondering why they chose Melissa as a leading lady. I was expecting a slimmer female main character for Mario Lopez. It's only now when I checked her bio that I learned she's pregnant. She looks gorgeous but the movie could have used a trimmer lady.
The story's so cute. Just hearing the title, it makes you feel a little softy... (sigh, sigh, sigh)

I think that there's some chemistry when it comes to Melissa and Mario's acting, too. If not for her acting talent, physically, she's not that good to look at with Mario. And I've noticed that she's aged, the wrinkles are visible, compared to mario's looks. I saw a movie of Mario 3 yrs ago and I think up to now he hasn't age, I mean his looks are still the same...

Wow - I thought the original poster was bad enough - then you said something like that! I thought she looked fine! She wasn't perfectly toned, nor was she fat or even able to be labeled chubby. As for "someone looking like Mario being with someone like Melissa" -- my boyfriend looks BETTER than Mario and dates me, despite my weight occassionally fluctuating. I actually dropped quite a bit of weight since he started dating me because he is -- get this -- NOT A VAIN a$$hole like some of the posters on here. LOL I could actually see her doing much better.

Go to any big city and look around you and you will see plenty of "odd" couples where either a superhot guy is dating an average looking/older/overweight woman, or the other way around, a real pretty girl dating a total geek or chubby fellow.
I could imagine that in rural areas or small towns people care more about what others might think, because people are more involved in eachothers lives. Because of that I could see someone only dating someone who is about equal to them in looks. But trust me, it's not like that everywhere at all.

I like Melissa's beauty. And I am just stating a fact that she gained weight and her looks just aged. Her acting ability, for me, is still there. I am looking at her objectively not subjectively. No need to take this as an offense especially for Melissa's fans.

Obviously you have no idea how old some of the actors and actress in Hollywood are - some are very well into their late 40's and early 50's. Hell, Johnny Depp is at that age and do we see any guy saying he should quit, no. Being in your 30's is not at all elderly - not when you consider women live to be an average of 80 years of age. And she was pregnant during shooting - so you can't consider her fat since she probably lost the weight afterwards.
It's male pigs like you and criticizing women who are probably 250 lbs already who are jealous who want actresses just to leave the show business just because they decided they wanted a child. That's her life - not ours to discuss. She's a very talented actress and is amazing as she was back when Sabrina aired. To me, her and Mario had amazing chemistry in the movie - and it's perfectly reasonable to think that Mario might fall for someone like her. I agree with ooby_gooby on the first page! She is NOT fat AT ALL, and she did wonderful as Trudy! I personally think if anything, she's too good for Mario...and that's saying A LOT because Mario is gorgeous! She doesn't need to lose weight, and it's not at all your business to tell her she does! I love Melissa, and I hope we keep seeing her in such good movies like this.

MacgyverSwiss - Dude, if she lost 20 lbs she would be waay underweight. 110 lbs for a 5'2" woman is perfectly thin and healthy. If she was 90 lbs that would put her at a BMI of 16.5 (the normal range of healthy BMI is 18.5-24.9) So, no. She's fine just the way she is. Can we be honest for a second here. Melissa needs to quit acting. Once you get over a size 2 you are all done in Hollywood. I truly love Melissa and would make sweet love to her in so many positions if given the opportunity but she is getting wrinkly and elderly. Well Hart looks like a normal woman, a thin normal woman. And you wonder why girls are throwing up after every meal to be thinner. She is very talented and the role fit her perfectly, great movie overall and Mario Lopez yummy, they looked great together, people get over yourselves.
sharePersonally, I completely disagree. Aside from the fact that I don't feel she's heavy at all (pregnant or not), she was the perfect fit for the role. As a previous poster pointed out, Trudy is meant to be a little off center. The whole point is that she's not the perfect daughter/girlfriend, thus the scene where her sister is streching and she catches him checking her out. It's clear Trudy has always delt with this type of insecurity. Also, the demo for this film is obviously women 18-34/54 and many of us can identify with these types of insecurities thus edearing us to the character.
As for the two of them together, I think the fiancee and Mario made the better *looking* couple but agian the whole point/moral was that things don't always work out the way you think they will/should.
She looked fine! There are too many anorexic women in Hollywood and they are not good role models for the girls today. If they look thin on TV, then they must be emaciated in real life. Look at Calista Flockhart, Terry Hatcher, even Eva Longoria they all could add 20 pounds and look much better. We are constantly hearing "eat healthy", well it works both ways.

I just watched the movie tonight and Melissa's weight definitely did NOT occur to me. Sure she's not the same body type as the girl who played her sister- but that's real life too. I look totally different than my sisters. It gives us all some variety and spice in life.
Melissa & Mario were awesome together. I had to watch parts of the movie again a second time because it was so cute and helped put me in the holiday spirit. I was only interested in the film because of Melissa & Mario.

I thought she was fine! She looks great after having kids and I think the whole point was that she loveably imperfect. Not everyone who falls in love looks perfect, you can fall in love with people's flaws. He even got to the point at the end after he showed her the picture and talked about his "perfect life".

The film wasn't perfect -- the situation often felt very contrived, for one thing -- but it was fun. Of the three ABC Christmas movies I saw last year, this is my favorite.
