It started well, but became so slow and tedious when they entered the forest. There is so much they could've cut out! So much! It really ruined the whole feel of the film. Very disappointing. It was like they wanted to stretch it out as much as possible. Such a shame....
shareI disagree. I feel like they captured the mood of the book perfectly. They didn't stretch a thing out, there are just far less cuts than what we're use to in a Potter adaptation. But there are still cuts. The only scene that was added was Harry trying to cheer Hermione up with the dance after Ron left.
The feeling of hopelessness, dread, and being overwhelmed with a task they couldn't take on while hiding out in the woods was so important in the book. It was during this time the trio was silently doubting everything: why Dumbledore hadn't given them more information to go on, if it was all worth it, if his friends would abandon him, etc.
My only complaint is that it made the pacing of Part 2 feel so odd, as if the climax begins before the halfway point.
But given the silliness of part 6, it was nice to have a strongly faithful, moody, more emotional film to lead up to the finale. I can't imagine how upset some of the fans would be if they trimmed Deathly Hallows down as much as they did Goblet of Fire
Goblet of fire cut out the very important prioriti incarteum scene which should have been left in.

shareYes, there is a noticeable drop in quality after they reach the forest. The plot feels stagnated and won't move forward until they get caught by the snatchers. I can't put my finger on what exactly went wrong with the movie adaptation, but it felt underwhelming compared to the book. The book managed to create a dark and tense atmosphere, I felt real danger for the characters, they were so vulnerable. The movie wasn't able to do that, it just felt like a build up for part 2. Maybe this storyline is simply a better fit for a book rather than a movie.

The animated sequence about the deathly hallows was inventive, but otherwise the pacing in the latter half of the film was dreadful. And I say this as a regular watcher of slooow Russian films.
The poor acting didn’t help either. Deathly Hallows part Two was much better.
This movie was such a dull tedious tread, I didn't even bother going to see the last one. I also never read the books so I started finding the story very hard to follow.
