.I actually agree with you 100%. I was in the same mind set when that scene happened and for the same reasons. Then he was going to bring his kids in, I was actually going for the remote at that point, but then I didn't because I wanted to see how it ended.:)

In the event of nuclear terrorism they would've not only killed the wife, but tortured the kids. This would be triggering WW3, because it would rally the american people not only to assault the middle east, but create internment camps, and every other possible thing.
They've illegally imprisoned people with no evidence, often waterboarding the wrong people in countless cases (up for litigation and civil suits in other countries, i know of one that was a German citizen, and that was 6 years ago).
They've killed people just to increase provocation to go to war. (case in point; U.S.S. Liberty attack of 1967 (by isreali jets , who "mistakenly" thought it was an enemy ship)
The morality of the film pales in comparison to the reality. It's not about what you or john q public would do..this is the sad reality of the world, and the U.S. continuing to be an instrument of foreign policy and the continuation of that way of life.
