Your favourite bit

What is your favourite joke in Gavin and Stacey?

My favourite is when Nessa talks down the baby monitor to Neil the baby. It cracks me up, and I don't know why!

reply

Barry's Island! Pamela Shipman and all her facial expressions!

**No one ever listens to me. If the package is this pretty, no one cares what's inside.**

My favourite bit is when Smithy's in the car singing Do They Know It's Christmas, everything about that scene was brilliant. From him shouting "OH COME ON DICKHEAD" to him singing down the phone with Gavin. Loved it!

reply

Couldn't agree more. That's my favourite too.

It's a testament to what has become One of Ruth Jones hallmarks in her writing, in creating a moment of such comedic gold amongst a very dramatic emotional moment. During the build up to Nessa giving birth, very dramatic music, tense, everyone trying to get there on time....and then out of nowhere, Gavin and Smithy stack it in the hospital corridor after not noticing the wet floor sign.

Absolutely devastatingly funny. A bit of good old fashioned slapstick that is totally unexpected. Watching it back, I know it's coming, but it still kills me when I see it

What....The Curtains?

reply

Just about every line Doris uttered cracked me up. "To tell the truth, love, I'm absolutely twatted."

Wow, there are so many.

When Nessa's Dad calls her sugar tits.

"Its Christmas time theres no need to be afraid, at Christmas time, we let in light and we banish shade. But in our world of plenty OH COME ON DICKHEAD!

Smithy and Rudy rapping.

When everyone is excited about Mick being on the TV... for finding a dismembered body!

Doris.

Smithy's ordering of the Indian Takeaway, and his absolute disgust at Dawn (?) suggesting they all share it. I'm with Smithy on that one!

As someone reminded me on here, Smithy's discussion on thinking about committing suicide.

Gwen and Bryn when they're packing up the car to set off to Essex, 'yes, and a flannel'

Smithy talking about supervising Deano, 'can I just say to you, like I say to all my clients, Deano will never be left here on his own'

The strawberry blonde fella from Patch Adams.
