Lack of rewatch value

It's all too depressing

reply

I've rewatched it a few times over the years.

I think it gains something knowing Walt's revelation about his motives in the final episode. It does change a lot of the early episodes' tone.

(I also kinda like depressing art...)

I can't rewatch season 5 after the train job. Then again, I've never seen the final 5 or so episodes of the Sopranos.

reply

The train heist is a great episode. To me, that one was kind of "the last hurrah!" It's the last episode where they have a "fun adventure". It all goes south after that... (I still love the show's final moments, I just mean it gets real dark)

reply

Yup

I was in high school when the last season aired. I thought it was the greatest thing ever back then. I can't at all consider watching it now...it's so depressing and lacking of any redemptive values. Not that entertaining either.

reply

I disagree. I periodically rewatch it.. It's still one of my favorites

reply

It's nicely written but, as motorcycledriveb wrote, it's going nowhere. I'm rewatching it with someone who's watching it for their first time. Not that great.

reply

Each to their own..eh
.I think it has something to say.. Maybe the phase of your life when you first viewed it has its own influence....
..I watched it as an adult and some of the side themes like frustration with where one is in life versus where one wanted to be gives it some authenticity..

reply

Sure. Doesn't make it less depressing though.

reply

This is how I feel whenever I have a slight urge to rewatch Hereditary.

reply

Because so many of the episodes are so endlessly similar (Walt being paranoid, trying to think of ways to kill or escape Gus) it's hard to actually remember what happened in any episode without looking at a guide. With other TV series that were or are my favourites, you don't get that.
