Craig Fairbrass totally steals the show

Everyone is good, but he completely outdoes them. He is one of nastiest, most horrible vicious characters i've seen on screen. He left me with a much more disturbed feeling than Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast (though he is excellent)

I thought Tony was the best character in this movie.

Terry Stone & Craig Fairbrass made this film what it was.

the role of Pat Tate was ment to be a scene stealer, the guy in real life was just so over the top.....funny one minute, going off the rails the next, but fairbrass played it good, the golden shower remark had me laughing hard

Fairbrass had the physicality and presence that was required. The mood swings that the guy had is a result of steroid abuse. He got that across I think.

I agree that Terry Stone and Craig Fairbrass were the standouts in the movie. Craig Fairbrass being the best and Stone a close second. If you compare them with the real characters they were playing, you can see the resembelance, however the character of Carlton Leach (Harnett) looked nothing like the real Carlton, not even close in size. I cant quite pin it, but there is something i dont like about Ricci Harnett.

The movie was great though. Shocking and interesting at the same time. We really got to see what bullying monsters Tate and Tucker were.

I'm not a freak until you see tongue marks on your window! :D

he has stole the show in a lot of things

in Cliffhanger, his torture of a man whilst reminiscing about his soccer career was great...each time he kicked the person he would commentate on it

"oh ya swearing now!....that's a penalty kick.....for unsportsman like"

in COD4 he has many great lines also, his british dry wit ads much comic relief

but in this, was truly great, my favourite is when he is arguing with the pizza shop and finally delivers on his threats...."we're talkin' about cheese ya cu|\|t"

I think he 'outdid' Kingsley's sexy beast performance by a country mile.

The reason is simple enough - he 'looks the goods' . Although Kingsley's _performance_ was _exceptional_ to say the least, the obvious physicality (or lack thereof, esp when the person cast to be 'afraid' of him (i.e. Ray Winstone) is a former boxer, and suits the part. The best analogy I can give is this - imagine you found someone with the greatest acting skill of all time - but he happened to look like Dr Phil. No matter how good an acting job he might do, _nobody_ is going to 'buy' him playing Juliette in Romeo and Juliet.

But back to ROTFS - at least the 'heavies' by and large looked the part - which means that even a slightly flawed performance would carry more weight than an expert performance by someone who looked more frail than Mother Theresa.

Great Insight jmac-20, Pat Tate was such a strong Physical guy you had to have an actor that not only mentally played the pyscho but was physically that scary

reply

That was why Kingsley was far more frightening IMO.

He is not a big, physically intimidating man, rather a scrawny one. He still however easily and effectively cows Winston's character.

reply

You're right, Craig Fairbrass is the man.

reply

The actor did a good job, but that Tate bloke was a complete prick. Why did it take so long for someone to kill him?

reply

Craig would have had a bttr career if Vinnie Jones wasnt around

reply

Yeah he is great, scared the *beep* out of me. Was great in Eastenders as well.

reply

Tate in real life came across as a really nice guy 90% of the time, charismatic, good looking and lots of character and was extremely funny, Fairbrass captured it pretty well I thought, I was really surprised, it was an exaggerated Tate but he did a good job.

We got to...This is America man...

reply

I could not agree with you more, great performance.
