i wanna get tortured by sexy pinhead
sharePINHEAD ISN'T REAL...."FIC-TION-AL CHARACTER"...
shareNo shit Sherlock.
shareHOW CAN YOU GENDER SWAP A CHARACTER THAT ONLY EXISTS IN FICTION AND WHO'S GENDER HAS NO REAL BEARING ON THE FICTIONAL STORIES THE CHARACTER IS BEING USED WITHIN?
shareThey took this fictional character that has been male since the first Hellraiser film was released 1987, and are remaking the film with the character to now be portrayed as female.
Am I missing something here?
The same reason that Queen Latifah is now The Equalizer, and Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones were The Ghostbusters, or Sandra Bullock became Danny Ocean’s cousin in “Ocean’s 8”.
You appear to love the idea. That’s fine. I just think it’s a lazy trend for an industry that can’t come up with anything new to do.
WOULDN'T REMAKING THE SAME PROPERTIES WHILE NOT CHANGING ANYTHING BE EVEN LAZIER?
shareYou’re picking at threads. How about just not remaking the same properties?
Remaking every movie that ever existed and had success is the definition of lazy, and using a gender swap or any other weak trend of the moment to try to sell the remake on people to make it seem “different” is disingenuous. The funny thing is, 99% of these remakes tank, yet they still hope that peoples’ thirst for nostalgia will justify their laziness and lack of creativity or originality.
NO...THE FUNNY THING IS...THE REMAKES STARTED ABOUT 3 YEARS AFTER THEY STARTED MAKING MOVIES...IT ISN'T SOME NEW PROBLEM...IT IS THE WAY IT IS AS IT EVER WAS.
sharewhy are you yelling in caps just because someone asked a perfectly valid question that doesn't align with your triggered feminist views?
I'm sick of politics being put ahead of artistic vision, it's ruining cinema. meanwhile your favourite film is probably ocean's eight
YOU ARE THE ONE PUTTING POLITICS BEFORE ART...HOW DENSE ARE YOU...I USE CAPS...BOO HOO...MOVE ON...MY FAVORITE FILM IS COOL HAND LUKE...I AM NOT TRIGGERED OR A FEMINIST...EAT MY ASS SALAD...NOW...WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE FRIENDS?...WHATS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE?🙂
shareI see you all over these boards yelling at anyone who you disagree with, like you're offended by the fact that opinions different to yours are allowed to exist.
definitely a triggered feminist who thinks they're the blueprint for the perfect human being
AWW...DID YOU USE YOUR HURTFUL BUZZWORDS?...I AM DEVASTATED...IF YOU SAW MY POSTS ALL OVER THE BOARD YOU WOULD KNOW BETTER THAN THAT SHIT...OR YOU ARE A SCUMBAG...EITHER WAY...WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE?...WE ARE FRIENDS NOW.
shareMust have missed the part where even 1 person claimed otherwise...
shareIt looks like we are heading to Lovecraft Country.
shareas long as the movie is good. as a big Clive Barker/Hellraiser fan the last 4-5-6 (I lost count) films have been terrible. in the original story the cenobites are sexless as they have been deformed by torture. so this new version may actually be more accurate. but as I said before, as long as the movie is good.
shareYes, I'm not usually one to push gender swapping for the sake of it, but the hedonistic mindset to be both sexes seems very in line with cenobites.
shareMy understanding that in the original script Pinhead was supposed to be a woman anyway. So . . .
shareNormally I dislike a lot of this woke nonsense, but making Pinhead's gender ambiguous seems to work.
Put it this way: the original author knows his work best, and I doubt Clive Barker would hear somebody picture "trans Pinhead" and go, "No, don't do that; don't make my Cenobite sexually indefinable."
