To all the people who say this is fake

...And go on to post threads like "How do people still watch this?" or "What a douche"

Let's get one thing straight... This show is a "how to" guide which, at the same time is entertaining. They never claimed everything in the show was 100% unscripted. They do say however, that "Bear Grylls and the crew receive support when they are in potentially life threatening situations" and "situations are presented to Bear so he can demonstrate survival techniques." Which had to be added since apparently, as demonstrated in these threads, a lot of people lack common sense and the ability to reason. Probably the same people who got upset when they found out Professional Wrestling was scripted. But if you don't think that Bear and the crew are taking risks, then you really are clueless.

As for the people who attack Bear's character or call him a "douche" ...well I can only attribute that to jealously and classlessness. He served three years in the British Special Forces, broke his back in three places and fought his way back to become the youngest Britain to climb Mount Everest at age 23. He has completed a ton of other feats. He is a family man, a father and is involved with several charities. What have you done? Don't attack someone because you are too lazy to go out and accomplish something for yourself. If you don't like your life, go out and try to change it. Hating others you are jealous of will only make you seem that much more pathetic. Good day.

I think Grylls is heterosexual... so your "desires" might not ever be realized.

The only thing that is pathetic is you, defending and congratulating such a bastard. Who on Earth would be jealous of this criminal? Only another animal killer and/or a sick person, like you.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

LOL *facepalm*

The guy's a trained professional that happened to turn his charisma and talent into a successful television show. It was clear he had a massive crew on standby at all times, all rivers/caves/waterfalls/ropes were checked beforehand, and the occasional snake or spider might've been planted nearby for effect. However, there were also no safety nets, life jackets, or stunt doubles, and no one to pre-bite the head off those snakes. Grylls has repeatedly said not having the current disclaimer from the start was a mistake because it opened the door for critics (and the always passionate IMDb trolls), but taking any of this seriously is ridiculous to begin with. There is real information and real risk within the show, but in the end it's entertainment. Imitating anything Bear does on camera would be similar to repeating ANY of the experiments performed on Mythbusters... just plain stupid for you, damn good fun watching the pros.

bear is the *beep* man, it takes alot of balls to do some of the *beep* he does, he like every other survival expert always say in their shows that sometimes you have to take risk, that sometimes the reward out weighs the risk, of course some of the stuff is set up for him to do, if it wasnt the show would be boring although i would still watch cause bear is likable guy, i havent seen anything hes done as you would die if you ever tried this, i mean he does have the training, plus bear was in british SAS which are some pretty bad hombres themselves, everybit as bad ass as US navy seals or US special forces, overall the show is always enjoyable and you can learn alot of things from bear if you pay attention

I like Bear. He is entertaining, and quite athletic. But..for learning true survival techniques, his show is ridiculous, and if you do what he does, you will not survive. Check out "Dual Survival" to get an idea how to really survive, and watch Bear for entertainment.

Bless this first post, someone who uses his brain <3

Its hardly a "how to" guide. Maybe "how to" kill yourself by doing stupid things in the wilderness.

I still find the show entertaining, but I would never use it for survival instruction. You want survival instruction...for real? Read "98.6--the art of keeping your ass alive" by Cody Lundin. thats information you can use--not ziplining across a gorge on a precarious rope just because it is cool for TV.
