All Black People are Evil and All White people are Good
... Is the only message I got out of this story. Michael has had a troubled life because he's been around black people his entire life and when he gets adopted by a white family the grass gets greener for him and they even teach him how to play football and be successful. Sandra Bullock even goes to the hood where all black people live to confront the scary black people into leaving Michael Alone because they're bad people. I mean this movie was so stereotypical of hollywood it was hard to watch. I couldn't help but think white family inherits big black man and turns his life from being a thug to a football player. This was definitely a white feel good movie. Instead of being about a kid that focused on playing sports all his life to escape the chaos he dealt with and then getting adopted by a family that continued to encourage his natural abilities. What makes this movie ridiculous is that a lot of star athletes come from broken homes or "hoods" or low income environments etc. etc. but they don't seem to need a white family to make them "star athletes". I hated the most about this film is how negative the "hood" was portrayed with a group of gangsta's threatening Michael and trying to drag him down (crab behavior) because he had a chance at success. More typical white ideology.I don't think anyone supports homegrown athletes than the hoods they come from because they're like hometown heroes.
