please recommend good revenge thrillers .

doesn't have to be modern I enjoy 7o's and 80's films very much , something like straw dogs , last house on the left , death wish , sudden impact 'dirty harry ' , oldboy ' although I don't like that it turned dramatic at the end p.s I only saw the remake ' , unforgiven , high plans drifter , tell tale , edge of darkness , get carter '' 70's '' death sentence .. etc ..
prefere if it wasn't gangster related just a guy being pushed so far or missed with the wrong guy ' no one lives for example ' .. would really appreciate the recommendation
thanks

I Spit On Your Grave 1 & 2
Law Abiding Citizen
Eden Lake

There is also the French movie Them ("Ils" is the french title) but it's not exactly revenge... it's pretty freaky more than anything though!

I Spit on Your Grave is pretty brutal and hard to watch because of the rape, I always FF through those parts because I just can't watch it. I just like the revenge parts

Law abiding citizen is amazing watch it. You named some really good ones. There is a alternate ending on LAC, but dont let unsatisfying ending dissuade you. The ride is awesome!....AWESOME!.

But, theres a koren movie that i like to recommend that absolutely blew me away. Its on netflix and is a spectatular revenge story. Look for "I saw the devil". Like i said, its on netflix and is brutally brilliant.

ISOYG is just like one of the smart posters here said, a tough one to see that I always skip through some of the rape scenes in. I'm not a big collector of revenge films, but I love ones with good justice; for that, there is "The Count of Monte Cristo", "And Then there were None", "A Time to Kill", "An Eye for an Eye" and "The Pelican Brief". I may think of more later.

Act of Vengeance

A grim look at the need for justice is "The Debt".

And the original "Scream", btw, has one of the best endings ever.

Kill Bill of course
The Punisher
The Stendhal Sindrome (Asia Argento), the score is great. A cop is in search for a serial rapist.
The Entity w/ Barbara Hershey- An invisible entity sexually attacks a woman and no one believes her of course
Lipstick

Inglorious basterds- which funnily reenacts some scenes of The Stendhal and uses the score of The Entity

I really like Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon in it.
