Why do people mistake Frankenstein for the monster?

You're going to have to let this one go. Unless people actually read the book, most folks don't know the monster is NOT called "Frankenstein." However, in terms of cinematic history and pop culture people refer to the monster as "Frankenstein." Just let it go.

I know this is a few months old but since the monster was never named in the book Frankenstein has been his Unofficial name since it was first published. the way i do it is Frankenstein when talking about the monster Dr or Victor when talking about the man

The name suits the monster than it does the scientist.

If enough people make the same mistake, eventually, it will become right. For example, if enough people keep on "masterbating", then that term might have a good chance of making it into the dictionary.

Most creations are named after their creator or inventor.
As the Monster had no name it would make sense for people to name it after it's creator. (example James Dyson)


So, it's not that people are stupid it's the most logical thing to call him.
