RIP History !!
This Vlad guy was an absolute abomination...a loving husband and father, really?
Its a nice fantasy but his real-life story would have made a stronger story for a film.

its probably been said before in this thread, but ill pitch in too:
this is not a telling of the historial vlad dracul the third, its an origin story dracula the vampire, the fictional monster. the historial vlad the impaler was the basis for the fictional dracula. so this has never been, nor was ever meant to be, an historial depiction of vlads life. dracula (the character) as written by its creator bram stoker, had a very sad origin story in itself, making him at least a bit sympathetic, with his wrongfully lost love.
and i just noticed the OP never came back. what a troll
This movie was never intended to be historically accurate. Vlad Tepes was perhaps inspiration, but this was in no way intended as a biopic. If you want a movie with as much historical accuracy as an episode of Blackadder watch Inglourious Basterds.
My name is Legion, For we are many
Actually there is nothing strange in that. What you call abomination was an absolute normality not so long ago. All militar leaders (kings, earls and all the national/religious variations) had no problem in killing children, women, elderly ... without any feeling of being a "monster", or to be more precise without any possibility of being accused by his contemporaries to be a bad guy.
There is nothing worse than reading the history with contemporary lenses.
