Great movie! Only gets a 6.0 on imdb... proof that people are stupid.

I guess , and Im not saying the younger generation is retarded, but the only reason I can think of why this movie would only get a 6 is that most web users are tweens... and are maybe brainwashed by pop culture... or puberty, or they haven't lived life...
I have no idea, but I loved this movie... I mean it should get at least a 7... I would give it an 8...

OK, there were a lot of scenes that were standard thrillerbynumber stuff,
but some of the scenes... like when he was doing his piano piece in front of all the other parents... that was brilliant!
And his song at the end...

All Im saying is, at least give this movie a 7 people.... 6? thats BS! 6 is for movies like Batman Forever or some subpar crap

@ OP - I think a lot of people were mislead by it's cheesy cover art on the DVD. This is another unfortunate example of a competent psychodrama being marketed as some horror/thriller.

I dug it. I was practically half asleep during the first half, so I didn't really pick up on anything that hinted where the ending was going. Finished it this morning and was pretty unnerved by it.

I give it a solid 7/10. As high quality as it was IMO, it still wasn't an easy watch. Normally Sam Rockwell annoys me to no end, but he was likable and sympathetic as a normal upper-middle class family man.

I think 6/10 is pretty damn fair. It was extremely slow. It was one of those movies I just wanted to hurry up and end. It was not the worst, and I liked the creepy ending. But my God, was it sloooooooowwww. This has nothing to do with age - just personal taste.

I gave this moive a 7. I enjoyed the movie, especially the second half, and found the psychological elements highly absorbing, and loved how the storyline panned out. Farmiga and Kogan gave impressive and unsettling performances as the mother and son with some serious mental issues, and Rockwell impressed me too.

So why not a higher score?

1. Editing was poor, and felt too choppy. Far too many scenes felt like they were cut too short. This, for me at least, reduced the suspense felt compared to if the scenes had lingered more.
2. Music was overused, and at times, not appropriate for the scene.
