All his relationships are so mechanical and superficious, even the way he has sex, same old missionary position everytime, no one makes a sound, all his relationships with women (and men) are devoid of emotion.
Exactly. You don't know how hard I laughed during that first scene, because I couldn't help but think of how Stephen Colbert described what sex should be for a woman ("on her back, eyes closed, thinking about something else").
And then the second sex scene, which is exactly the same as the first, made me laugh harder. It just made me realize in this movie the sex is always going to be joyless and no fun. I think he goes after the blonde woman because he thinks he will get more emotion out of her or the sex will be better, then the dinner scene just nails him; she's exactly the same as the brunette, she will be as boring and joyless as the brunette, the sex will be just as boring and joyless as it was with the brunette, etc.
This is one of those films I'm gonna have to go out of my way to recommend to people, which probably will do no good since it's not easy to get. It's so scary in retrospect. It's almost like a neo-David Lynch film.
