A Big Unknown
I actually read at least the first 2 or 3 books in this series, and to be honest, I disliked Asimov's disjointed story-telling. He obviously started out by writing short stories to sell to sci-fi magazines to earn money, and only later put them all together in these books, and while they are mildly entertaining, it's not much fun to follow because you have a different set of characters in each story. There's no real set of characters to get emotionally invested in, nor do you ever find out what happens to them later, or know what kind of connection they all have, save that the stories take place in the same galaxy, and that the Foundation empire waxed and waned in size, depending on what Asimov wanted it to be. It symbol, as I remember, was a gold sun on a blue background. I also recall that there was one re-occurring character that showed up in several stories; the Mule. He was a mutant human who vaguely resembled a mule, he was sterile, had a high metabolism, and was a super-powerful telepath, powerful enough to manipulate the minds of millions of people at once. He didn't really become a villain until later stories, and then the heroes (whoever they were) had to work really hard to stop him.
I can't imagine how sci-fi channel is gonna interpret this story, though after watching "The Expanse," I don't have high hopes. It was a weird, disconnected set of space stories to start with, and the way tv shows are done nowadays are total crap, so again, I have no idea how it's gonna go, but I fear it won't be told well.
