Death Sentence or Taken?

I agree,
there's more at sake in Death Sentence
and the music is so emotional and powerful

I can agree with you that Death Sentence has better villains and possibly a better plot (only because it is more relative to the average viewer). The better acting is pretty hard to judge and could go either way depending on preference.

But Taken takes the action-cake for the simple fact that the main character is a trained killer, while Keven Bacon is playing an average person. That and Taken is more oriented towards action while Death Sentence has a little more development/build up.

Overall, I would have to say that I like Death Sentence more.

It's just a modern remake of Death Wish. Nothing beats Death Wish 1 & 2.

I think Taken is far superior... both has their lack of realism, but Death Sentence for me was like the director thought the viewers were idiots. Most of the stuff that happened would just never happen... Bacon running around leaving a bevy of evidence, but the cops couldn't figure anything out... personally I thought Edge of Darkness and Death Sentence were two of the most unrealistic films made in the last decade... didn't care for either one... now Taken.. I loved it!

Don't get me wrong both were unrealistic, but at least with Taken you get that relentless action for the last hour of the film.

I enjoyed Death Sentence, but hands down Taken was better.

Taken is 10/10, Death Sentence is 8/10. What's your problem?

better overall film is probably... Death Sentence, but it's close.

-Death Sentence (2007) = 8/10
-Taken (2008) = 8/10 (probably a 7.5. mostly because while the earlier side of the film i would say is a 8/10 i think it losses some of it's spark later into the film)

so it's close but i think Death Sentence is better. (in fact, this is in need of a re-watch ;) )

i think Death Sentence has a better feel/tone to it. because Taken really shines in the kidnap scene but i think besides that ill probably give the overall edge to Death Sentence.
