Fantastic action sequence!!!

The sequence when the gang try to kill Hume and chase him through the alleyways and then hotel and multi storey car park had me on the edge of my seat. This was one of the most gripping and exciting action sequences I have seen in ages. I was absolutely rooting for Kevin Bacon and exhilirated when he finally sent the gang member off the top of the car park in the car.

The sequence was brilliantly shot and edited. Well done Mr Wan. If the rest of the film had been of this calibre, it would have been an amazing film. As it was, I enjoyed the first half more, and the sillier second half less. I'd give it 8 out of 10 overall.

Anyone else enjoy this sequence?

Definitely a well done suspenseful action scene! Watching how it was actually filmed and realizing how precise every little thing had to be just made me appreciate it even more!

i know! I thought the exact thing as the OP. Its good to know somebody else enjoyed that seen as much as I did.

Completely agree. This scene was well-directed and acted - you could almost smell the sweat on Kevin Bacon.

Some of the plot holes were improbable even for an action/revenge movie. And the "music video" scenes were too cheesy for my tastes.

But the action sequences are definitely worth checking out.

Yeah that sequence was amazing!

RIP Brittany Murphy, you'll forever be missed

Yes, beautifully composed and great timing. As far as I remember it is also mentioned in the "Making Of" how they did the car park sequence without a cut. Mr Wan is a great director although he sometimes uses the fish-eye lens view too much.

It was one of the good things about the film but just like the rest of it, the stupid things that Bacon's character does are at times unbearable. Waste entire minutes to sound off all car alarms to zero effect...run for your car up the car park and attack a guy armed with a gun instead of quietly sneaking away on foot...etc etc...

If not for his insane luck he would have died 12 times in the film.

That was definitely the highlight of the movie, that whole sequence.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

I agree. I remember when I first saw it in 2007 and I was blown away by that sequence. I dídn't really take much from the rest of the movie but that sequence was amazing.

No expectations, no disappointments.

Agreed. Imagine the timing with them chasing Bacon up to the rooftop. The guy he fights at the top was 2 floors down as we see Bacon running up. You know what happens if they get the timing wrong.

Billy and his boys were following close behind, so he could not stay up there hiding. I have seen complaints about the guard rail being too weak for the car. But the car gained momentum with 300lbs for 50feet. And this stunt happened. Nice camera angle from within the car. Well shot and paced action sequence.

See also Tony Jaa's The Protector. A similar scene ~4mins and with martial arts! Children of Men also has a similar scene as well.

The house break in was just as fantastic. Very tight space but still good angles and originality filming unarmed vs guns. Anyone name another film that is just as good as this scene in Death Sentence?

Most things just need time...

Yes, there was a 2-3 minute duration during the garage scene where it looked like a single camera shot (no cutting). I wonder how they did that !?

Beautiful scene, gotta lookout for the making of now.
