This Movie Drank, Fought, and Did its Ancestors Proud

Someone needs to use that great line in a title thread here... come on!

So many memorable lines and scenes in this film. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Favorite lines: The whole SHIELD agent on the roof scene ("Is there a Renaissance fair in town?" "We've got Xena, Jackie Chan and Robin Hood...")

Favorite Scene: Thor killing that giant monster and then landing cool as can be

Anyone care to list theirs???

reply

Favorite line "YOU ARE A VAIN, SELFISH, CRUEL BOY!" "AND YOU ARE AN OLD MAN AND A FOOL!"

Favorite scene his banishment by the Allfather
"I now take from you your power! In the name of my father! And his father before! I Odin Allfather CAST YOU OUT!"

That whole sequence was amazing in my opinion Anthony Hopkins IS Odin!

reply

Add that deleted scene of Frigga questioning Odin about the banishment and it adds so much more depth. That's the only deleted scene I would have wanted in the film.

reply

Good point but most of those deleteds are better off out of the film. It stands great as it is and was released.

reply

I still looooooooove this movie!

"The inevitable Avengers film (expected in 2012) has given the most recent individual origin films an episodic quality, but where Iron Man 2 suffered for that - and one suspects the upcoming Captain America will also - Thor avoids feeling like a placeholder. Instead of leaving the cinema irritated, unwilling to wait for his next adventure, you feel buoyed.

A winning blend of thrill and feeling, respect and irreverence, Thor lifts Marvel's movie stocks considerably."

reply

Thor added to Marvel's stock and it's now a blue chipper!

reply

Thor hits the mark!

had to bump this thread. It is so true!

It’s good to dream

reply

I'm going to drink right now as I pop this back in to my DVD player. CHEERS!

reply

This movie did everyone that bought a ticket proud.

reply

Well, if women found Bridesmaids to be funny, then anything is possible.

reply

Women loved Bridesmaids, it was men that mostly hate it.

reply

Yes, I hated Bridesmaids and I'm a guy.

I do love Thor, however.

reply

Brideswhat now? That thing was forgotten 10 minutes after it left the cinema.

The most underrated scene for me was the bar scene ending with "He drank, he fought, he did his ancestors proud." This gave the movie true heart and slipped in some great wisdom. What the doctor told Thor at the bar are words to live by. It also bonded the characters. It showed why the doctor was with Jane and led directly to the camp fire scene with Jane.

This movie deserves much more credit around the Net for being wonderfully written. It's getting a lot of praise for being fun and for being visually stunning but Thor is a winner from the script on out.

reply

More and more people are saying that about this film.

reply

Hemsworth is on a role. I just saw Red Dawn and he carries that film nicely. I know that was pre-Thor but his skills still show in that one.

reply

This film still should be shown so much love. I'm glad FX is showing it every week it seems like now.

It's "Ancestors" are now really proud. Soon it will be its own ancestor because the second film looks even better than the first.

These guys should have been the ones drinking and fighting... http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/62451_462246967181953_69982 7555_n.jpg
