Stop, Stop, stop!!

Can everyone please stop marauding this movie/?//

I am a college student doing media studies and sorry guys but you are all wrong about this movie.

First of all my teacher talked to us about different camera shots like long shots and panning and the trumpet shot (used for making someone look shocked).
..and they are all used in this movie!!

secondly this is meant to be a parody of other films!! Do you remember The Departed?? It was a parody of internal affairs, a Chinese movie that you probably wont know. This is just the same.. its not a copy of better films but it uses mis en scene to portray a film that is like them but ultimately better because there is more experience in it.

Thirdly and Fourthly THIS IS A COMEDY FILM PPL!! Mr Silverman says that comedy films can offten take liberties with direction and cinemtogrophy and this is normal.

I do also want to say that i think people give a 1 to this film befor they have eve

reply

..r have seen it. Like Uwe Bol said. Its unfair!

reply

Just because it's technically correct does NOT make it a good movie.

No.

Keyword here being student, not professor, not teacher, not anything. Being a student gives you zero credibility.

First of all my teacher talked to us about different camera shots like long shots and panning and the trumpet shot (used for making someone look shocked).

Wow, so, the camera guy can... work a camera? Incredible.

secondly this is meant to be a parody of other films!! Do you remember The Departed?? It was a parody of internal affairs, a Chinese movie that you probably wont know. Who doesn't realize this is supposed to be a parody? The reason everyone hates this movie isn't because it's a parody, (See "Airplane!", "Kentucky Fried Movie", "Spaceballs", etc, for parodies that don't suck) it's because it's not funny, when it's supposed to be. The pathetic acting and puerile attempts at humour is like watching someone's "hilarious" home videos of themselves getting hit in the balls by their kid.

Thirdly and Fourthly THIS IS A COMEDY FILM PPL!! Mr Silverman says that comedy films can offten take liberties with direction and cinemtogrophy and this is normal.

Mr. Silverman says? Who's that? Your professor? Why don't you get him to take a look at your comment, he'll probably smack you upside the head with a book for defending such a piece of garbage with his name.

I do also want to say that i think people give a 1 to this film befor they have eve

Guessing your brain stopped functioning before you could finish your thought. D:

camera angles have nothing to do with the script being unfunny.

did your teacher use this film as a good example of filmaking in class? he should be fired coz hes clueless

or did you just notice certain things he told you in this movie? thats the art of moviemaking guy, im sure the next film you watch will have the same camera work.

this is the most insane validation for this film dude

reply

That reply was funnier than the whole movie combined.

I'll "LOL" it to indicate my laughter. ^^

reply

Umm, I'd look up what 'parody' means, the departed was in no way a parody of inFernal affairs, it was just a remake, media studies? what a joke.

reply

Also, since you are a student, you might want to look up what marauding means. nothing makes someone seem dumber than misusing big words.

reply

Is this a parody of a comment?

Xenofox covered most of this already, but I'll do it too....

"I am a college student doing media studies and sorry guys but you are all wrong about this movie. "

I disagree with you here xenofox. Being a student does give some credibility. But his argument takes it all away.

"First of all my teacher talked to us about different camera shots like long shots and panning and the trumpet shot (used for making someone look shocked).
..and they are all used in this movie!!"

Those are very basic, incredibly elementary, fundemtals of even amateur filmmaking. There is nothing impressive about that at all.

"secondly this is meant to be a parody of other films!! Do you remember The Departed?? It was a parody of internal affairs, a Chinese movie that you probably wont know. This is just the same.. its not a copy of better films but it uses mis en scene to portray a film that is like them but ultimately better because there is more experience in it."

For one, The Departed is not a parody (nor is it a great film by the way). It is an adaptation of INFERNAL Affairs, which is a SERIES of Chinese movieS (plural) that people do know about you arrogant prick. Clearly you haven't see on or any of them. Epic movie is nothing like the Departed. The Departed attempted to adapt the story of these three movies into one film, while slightly changing the characters and plot to Americanize the story. Epic Movie is a terrible film that unimaginitively steals moments and details from successful films and pop culture, with an emphasis on crude, thoughtless, slapstick humor. But the worst part of it is that it is useless as a parody, as it makes no commentary on the genre of films that it lampoons. The films it is making fun of are generally bad, but Epic Movie is considerably worse because it is an unoriginal film, made without any talent that is part of a series of awful exploitation parody films in this vein.

Also the use mise en scene has nothing to do with anything in this conversation. Not only is it employed lousily in the film, but it also has nothing to do with the parody. The films are not parodied visually, because the filmmakers do not know enough about cinema to achieve any such creativity.

"Thirdly and Fourthly THIS IS A COMEDY FILM PPL!! Mr Silverman says that comedy films can offten take liberties with direction and cinemtogrophy and this is normal."

Clearly nobody knows who Mr. Silverman is, so his opinion is completely worthless. The fact that it's a comedy also does not excuse the talentlessness of it. All the actors suck, all writing sucks, all the camera work sucks. What liberties of direction and cinematography does it take exactly? The fact that it's poorly photographed and composed equals excusable liberties taken with cinematography and direction? What are you talking about?

"I do also want to say that i think people give a 1 to this film befor they have ever have seen it. Like Uwe Bol said. Its unfair!"

Well, for one thing quoting Uwe Boll doesn't benefit your argument at all. And while there are a lot of people who vote before they have seen it; the reason that most gave it 1 is because they actually had the misfortune of seeing this piece of *beep*

reply

dude maybe your teacher is talking about comediesm in general, and in english we learnt about basic film techniques and what you said was covered in this so if a 14 year old knows about this then maybe the camera workers should unless they are babies which they probebly are. and the departed is in no way a parody, maybe you should learn what a parody is before you mix it with adaptaion and. the diffrence between epic movie and parody is that epic movie just rips scenes and a parody takes something fundamental and changes it. so stop confusing the video shop with film class PLEASE

reply

I once made a film in Media Studies. I used long shots, and panning. It was a parody.

It was also absolutely awful.
But, even though it was six fourteen year olds who couldn't act, couldn't write a joke, couldn't do anything, it was better than this crap.

Yes, I know media terms too.
And I know that my media professor isn't always right.

personally i think the creators of this movie should be curbstomped.

it's a comedy . . . they don't do good, they aren't suppose to. Their the lowest form of art on film.

If your teacher is implying that this movie is any good, you should immediately drop out.
