Finales That You Thought Were Worse Than Eureka's (SPOILERS)

Sorry I realize that everyone is a critic but Eureka's finale was awesome. I felt that it was so much better than most. Here are finales that were worse, much worse.

Seinfeld-Yeah it was a double-sized episode with a ridiculous plot, all in a very lame attempt to bring back some of the memorable characters from earlier in the show's run. It's one of the few I skip watching in reruns.

Married...With Children-Another very odd story here that revolved around Kelly getting married to a would-be robber of the Bundy family. It was completely forgettable.

Quantum Leap-Really? All any fan wanted to see was Sam finally leap home. It was constantly in the intro of the show for every episode. Finally we get to the very last one, only to find out that due to one small sentence...He never does.

reply

Quantum Leap ended with Sam having the ability to return home whenever he wanted. He chose not to go. Until that point him not getting back just didn't seem fair. When the series ended it was his decision to continue doing good elsewhere rather than returning. Him not going home didn't make it a bad finale.

reply

I think Eureka could have been better but, not bad.

I did like these

Mash
Walker Texas Ranger
Twinpeaks
Veronica Mars

I meant to post this DAYS ago... I was having issues with gaining access. I'm not sure if any one has said these, but here are a few that I think the series finale was worse than Eureka's. (I liked Eureka's finale as well btw).

1.) Heroes - I really don't want to spoil anyone on this one... so if you want details, message me.

2.) Dinosaurs - thought I saw this one, but wasn't sure. What a depressing ending!

3.) 7th Heaven - Watched the show from the beginning. The previous season had a better ending.

4.) Dollhouse - I get why this one ended the way it did. It was cancelled, and we had to rush for an ending. So sorry Joss

5.) Chuck - I'm still at a loss why they did that.

6.) Stargate Atlantis - I have a blog entry on another site as to why this ending was bad.

7.) Big Love - So much invested... and it ends like that! I was ticked.

8.) Angel - One hell of a Cliffhanger!

reply

At least there was no cliffhanger it was the right way to end the show I feel and very sad because it was such a brilliant show

reply

I do not really agree on angel's ending. At first I was disappointed, but after watching the last season again I got to understand a few things better then the first time. I therefore think that they actually all die in the end because not even angel is that powerful to beat all the demons. Plus Ilyria was already weakened. Gun wouldn't last anymore and spike had it coming, as sad as it may seem. Joss Whedon said that he wanted to dismiss the show with them in the memory as heroes going to war. And in last episodes Angel understands that they cannot bring down Wolfram and Hart. What other end would you propose honestly?

Buffy was more of a cliffhanger for me. It ended with their last battle and that's it. No one actually knows what they are doing after, if you don't watch Angel season 5 where you get very loose intel on everybody.

Lost was most certainly the worst of the worst. Damon Lindeloff is the worst freak to walk the earth, untalented and misleading the audience in such a horrendous way, making us believe that the producers actually knew where they were going with the story. Lets get real: They didn't have a *beep* clue what was going on on their own show.

Weeds, horrible too. Only first 3 seasons were worth the watch but then it went all downhill. I did not see the end of Malcolm in the middle but I can imagined it sucked.

And Californication doesn't seem to have a promising upcoming season. Entourage was a bad ending but most certainly better then other shows. Entourage writers *beep* it up by finding a solution to all their problems in the last ten minutes. way to fast.

Honestly best ending I've seen: EUREKA:

I am a huge fan of Buffy and Angel, always was, and always will be. I have T-Shirts, watches, and even wall hangings to prove it. So, I thought that I would chime in on Angel's Series Finale. First of all, it was an all right ending, but not the greatest. Then again neither was the show after the third season, and even David Boreanaz would agree with that. In fact, he already has in subsequent interviews after the show's ending.

I do want to point out that Joss Whedon would happily disagree with you in the fact that they all died in that final battle. In comic book form, this show continued in what was called Angel: After the Fall, and FYI it is considered to be canon, for Joss Whedon was at the helm of it. Even now Angel and Spike are still very much a part of the Buffy Universe. In fact, Angel has his own comic book series that is shared with the character of Faith, so NO they do not all die in that final battle.

This is also the case with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Their story does continue, even if it is not on television. These characters continue to exist in the comic book world in what is called Buffy season 8 and season 9. And Joss Whedon and many of the same writers that worked on the TV shows are still very much a part of all of it.

Also, FYI, I would have to say that I do with you in the fact that Eureka has the best ending that I've ever seen. Well, that and the Series Finale of SMALLVILLE, even if Tom Welling never actually wore the suit.

Well, anyway, I just thought that I would put that out there.

reply

Malcolm in the Middle - not so bad. Try it. It's very poignant, what with the family explaining why they were so sh*tty to him. Bit of an epiphany for him.

reply

Hands down the best finale I've ever seen. Bittersweet, but nice to know that out there in Fiction Land, Eureka still exists and life goes on.

Worst? Xena. A finale seemingly written out of an almost spiteful desire to terminate the show and make sure it could never be revived, just in case the parent company were thinking of finding another producer. A finale that only makes sense if you look at it like that, because it certainly doesn't make sense in the context of the show's canon.

Quite a few peeps have mentioned Lost. I'm intrigued as to how the finale of Lost could be worse than most of the previous seasons, but admittedly I did give up early in season 4.

I hated the end of Northern Exposure. The audience had been with Rob Morrow's and Janine Turner's characters through years of will they/won't they, ups and downs. She was on a plane to NYC and ends up with another character that she started dating just for like 4 episodes at the end of the 6th season! It kind of turned me off to the whole show. It would have been like if Jack would have actually ended up with Lupo.

reply

Hands down, BSG. *sigh* I don't even want to talk about it .

BSG and The Sopranos

reply

Don't even know how I forgot about the Sopranos. Probably because it's just so widely known to have been a failure. Well, either that or I've just blocked it out.

Enterprise: Good lord that was a terrible ending. Most trekkies try to pretend that episode doesn't exist, and the books have gone on to say that the holodeck simulation was a fraud. It's even worse when you find out what they had planned for the next season if the show was renewed

reply

I thought the Newhart finale was great, and that most people just misunderstand the Lost finale.

But the worst finales?

Forever Knight: Spent the last season killing off characters until one was left.

Quantum Leap.

Chuck

Angel: everyone heading to their deaths.

Yeah, Enterprise and Deep Space Nine.

The Finder. Dumb depressing crappy end to a fun little series.

reply

Oh yeah I forgot out about BSG and Sopranos.

reply

I particularly appreciate the way they left it open to return (in more ways than one).

I realize I'm dating myself, but

Roseanne -- the final year or two or three (I forget) turn out all to be chapters in a book she was writing.

Monk -- completely invalidated the entire series.

M*A*S*H -- far, far too dark and serious.

I loved the Bob Newhart ending, but mainly because I loved the old show and hated the new one (well, not quite. I enjoyed the first couple of years, until they jumped the shark with Stephanie and Larry Darryl and Darryl). I hadn't watched the new one for several season and only tuned in because they promised a "surprise ending." I'd much rather believe that the second show was just a bad dream.

reply

How has no one said Sliders? Honestly, I could barely watch the final season, let alone that garbage finale.

You're not the boss of Tiger-bot Hesh!
