Zwartboek or Oorlogswinter ?
Which would you recommend?
shareZwartboek is better with better acting and directing. When there's no more room in hell, The dead will walk the earth...
It`s already been mentioned but "Soldier Of Orange" still gets my vote over these two."Black Book" had some good moments but tried to cram too much plot with too many characters into a small feature(mini-series may have been better). It also lacked the grittiness I was hoping for with over-reliance on numerous twists and "Hollywood" shoot-outs."Winter In Wartime" is a more intelligent piece, with an excellent performance by the boy,but the plodding script doesn`t help and the whole section with the British pilot is totally unconvincing:especially when he`s supposed to be injured and ludicrously manages to crawl under a bridge!Nice twist at the end ,which the film desperately needed, but the privations of the Dutch people, many of whom were starving in 1945,is something perhaps the film should have addressed in greater detail.
shareI'm a bit of a fan of Paul 'the grand vulgarian' Verhoeven because of the way he put two fingers up at the Heinlein groupies but sad to say Black Book was only worth one viewing. SofA has much more depth. I did notice though that the bird in BB had the same surname as Googie Withers in 'One of our Aircraft is Missing'.
Marlon, Claudia and Dimby the cats 1989-2005, 2007 and 2010.
He`s a bit of a dirty beast but I enjoy his films.Carice Van Houten caught my eye in "Black Book" (and a few other things besides!)but you`re right it`s not one of his best.Have a look at the lovely Carice in a recent British film called "Black Death" with Sean Bean-something quite different and she`s good in that too.
shareZwartboek. A deeper more extensive story. Although this was a 10 movie for me too.
shareI liked them both, but Zwartboek on balance was the probably the better movie.
Also Zwartboek has a truly head fµck ending that it's a must see.
