Fools gold is an awesome movie. There was not one true flaw in this entire film. I am *beep* tired of you childish little pricks that have no real cinematic appreciation talking about film. Though I mean not to censor anyone, I am just annoyed at some of the reactions this film has received. First off, The whole occupation of treasure hunting or treasure salvaging is a rather fanciful career or even hobby . So if the film based on treasure hunting or treasure salvaging was not entirely authentic to reality the film could not be considered an inaccurate depiction nor was it flawed on premise. The acting in this film was actually quite good. Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson performed very well together, exhibiting all aspects of a couple in a relationship. Though the story was simple it was enjoyable and not once did I feel not entertained.

If you think this is awesome, then you've never been to South Florida or been on a boat. The ship crew walk around barefoot? Are you kidding? Never...sperry topsiders all the way. The 'kids' that rescue Matthew in Miami talk like 'valley girls' not south beach dudes or even Miami kids...and a bar in Key West with Matthew and his sidekick and no one else???? And where were the roosters? The final insult, I've known lots of treasure divers and NONE were Russian. I don't think I've ever met a Russian diver. Not that its impossible but why write a script with such far-fetched inaccuracies? Oh yeah, Kate cleaning her mascara off the sink with a tissue? No way...I could still see the mascara trace!
And the water is rough but the boat never moves...
So f'in bad...

I agree with the OP and all the positive posts on this thread. This movie is pure escapist fun. I watch it frequently - and Sahara - and Into the Blue - when I feel like I want to get away. Watching this movie is the next best thing to going on a vacation when you can't go on a damn vacation. I think Matthew and Kate and Alexis (especially the crotch shot of the sword landing between her legs) are all awesome and I love Donald Sutherland's character. Oh, and to the poster who said they must have held a gun to his head to get him to sign on to do this movie - er, no, they just showed him a picture of that yacht and said "you'll be spending three months on this in the Bahamas and we'll pay you too." I'd sign on in a heartbeat.

I like this movie too, A LOT! I catch it on TV the other day, and it has one of the most beautiful shots i've ever seen. Like that scene at the beach ( the one when they found that gun, and the stupid girl was like " Oh gun, cool!", it was THE scene i was like WOW! That's beautiful! Smokin' hot Kate Hudson in a gorgeous black bikini, sand beach, palm trees all around, clear blue sky, crystal clear ocean... I mean, if one can't enjoy in a scene like that, than it's problem in them, not the movie.
Movie itself is fun as hell. I've laughed my ass off. And believe me, it's not easy to make me laugh. Only few movies have done the job. There's a type of movie that i can't wait to end, and there's a type of movie that i don't want to end! Fool's Gold is definitely in that second category! Simply awsome awsome movie.

Love this movie, i think people slating it are just trying to sound like they know what they are on about, i see this all the time on gaming websites

They think it makes there E penis bigger and make them more intellectual.

I agree - this film is the dog's danglies. It will be seen as a true classic in year's to come.
