I hated this movie for many reasons one being that they say that Christians are homophobes that hate homosexuals(Which is actually not true for you retards out there), which offended me a lot and two being that the humor was horrid and wasted Adam Sandler's talent sure it looks as if just two points aren't enough to be the worse movie I've ever seen but the second point is crucial in a COMEDY film. I sat through the whole movie not laughing once. The way they made the villains Christians made me sick to the stomach, it was nothing like what Christians are and it would give a whole lot of people a different idea on what a Christian is. I didn't watch this in theaters, I bought it in dvd and I want to sell it, throw it away or just get it away from me. This movie is actually worse than dragon wars, and the only reason I gave it two stars is because of Adam Sandler but that's all.
The villians were not the christians, It was people in general, Adam Sandler must of been a villian then becase his character openly admitted he was uneasy with gay people calling them fags but realised the error of his ways.
Secondly it's a comedy so chillax take it easy and stop being so uptight, obviously you left funny bone in another room, because i thought this was a funny film, not outright piss your pants funny but it kept me happy for 110 minutes.
I'm begging ya please don't watch brokeback mountain, you'll have a heart attack. GAY COWBOYS!!!!! PERISH THE THOUGHT.
I dont agree with a lot in your post but I do agree that the movie takes it too far when it comes to homofoobs. Everyone in the movie seem to be homofoob. The whole FD, the mob outside the party, the cop, etc. I know its a comedy but this movie makes it look like it was shot in 1980 and not in 2007.
You think this movies took it too far with homophobes? Wow, I guess you've never seen any court case involving gay rights. Didn't you see any of the protests about prop 8? It's sad but that's some people's gut reactions when it comes to gay rights. Your post just makes you seem sheltered.
that reply of yours was hilarious !! actually, I didn't like it the first time I watched it. so I gave it another watch and have laughed hysterically every time since !!!
I don't usually get involved in this kind of rubbish, but every now and again a post comes along which makes my blood boil. The initial post above is one such post.
Where to begin? Well, let's start at the beginning. The "worse" movie you have ever seen? Little tip for you, my friend - if you want people to take you seriously, you should probably learn how to use English correctly. If you mispell your opening line then I'm afraid a lot of people will just think you're an idiot. I couldn't possibly comment on my own, personal view of you. Well, yet, anyway. We'll see, eh?
At no point during the entire film do they attempt to tell the viewer that "Christians are homophobes that hate homosexuals." Where did you get that from? I'm neither a Christian or homosexual, but the only way the scene that you are referring to could offend your delicate Christian sensibilities would be if you were almost as rabid in your beliefs as the people they were attempting to portray in the film. How's that for irony?
In any case, they were merely attempting (IN MY OPINION - you should try that phrase out, it might make your OPINIONS sound a little less hyperbolic) to show the way that some members of American Christian organisations behave. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that there is one well-known American family, whose name thankfully escapes me, who think that God would like them to tell all existing family members of deceased military servicemen that their father/son/brother has been sent straight to hell for condoning homosexuality. So I'm afraid that you can't say that it was "nothing like what Christians are" (we really need to get you some grammar lessons, mate - reading your post is almost bordering on physical pain for me) because these people do exist. I'm not saying you're one of them, of course, but here's the important part - NEITHER IS THE FILM. Did you get that bit? Want me to say it again slowly? Ok then... NEITHER...IS...THE...FILM. Don't go imagining slights in a world where there's more than enought of the damn things to go around in the first place.
I'm not going to get involved in the whole "humour was horrid" point - you're entitled to your opinion, whatever it may be. I can say that I found it funny (not Adam's best film, but in no way his worst) and came away with a message that was almost the entire opposite that you have - one of the necessity of tolerance.
Please, PLEASE operate your brain before your typing fingers in future, and maybe we can avoid this kind of drivel. Just a thought.

You are thinking of Fred Phelps...basically the only person I would ponder killing if I had a chance.
I hate... so much about the things that you choose to be. reply share
hear hear! THANK for being one of the few voices of reason on these message boards. i agree with everything you said & wish more people had your good sense. i'll bet trolls tremble in your midst ;)
"Of course it's happening inside your head...but why on earth should that mean it's not real?"

gynie4 -- i am in accordance with the gist of your post on the serious issues -- but i had to point out the true irony in your incorrect spelling of misspell.
When you say you didn't laugh once, you're lying. That's it. It is humanly impossible to not laugh for at least ONE out of the many funny scenes in that movie. You're a fanatic and you took the Christian thing too seriously in a comedy movie that is not supposed to be taken seriously, and are basing your comments and ratings on that. This is also evident from the fact that you are comparing it to a movie that is not even in the same category (D-wars).
I liked this movie because it raised some of the issues that are brought up everyday here in the United States. Not only about same-sex marriage, but health care as well. We have some real problems here. Not only do we have people that love each other enough to spend eternity together not allowed to get married. But we have people that are forced to do illegal things in order to get health care...?
Actually Prop 8 banned a man from marrying a man and a woman from marrying a woman. Nowhere on a marriage license is one asked one's sexual preference.
"I'm sorry. Did I break your concentration?" "Don't you say goodbye?"
1. I think most intelligent people realize that not ALL Christians are homophobes. 2. I think most intelligent people realize that SOME Christians ARE homophobes--along with Jews, Buddhists, Muslims, etc. People from every walk of life can be a homophobe or not be a homophobe. 3. If you're worried about less intelligent people not realizing the two above points after watching this movie, you really need to re-evaluate why you care what stupid people think. 4. I like how the portrayal of the Asian minister DIDN'T offend you. lol.
P.S. I'll buy your DVD if you haven't sold it already.
This movie as well as nearly every other comedy ever made exaggerates stereotypes as a form of humor. This includes not only homophobic Christians, but also weird exotic Asians, flamboyant gay people, and grossly fat people.
I don't see why Religious belief has to be the basis of this entire argument: I'm agnostic, and I hated the movie.
It was called a "Comedy", but Comedy's have to be funny. The movie is just an awkward exercise in what they (The Writers, directors) think "Comedy" is. If they really wanted a funny movie, the humor of the movie shouldn't have been so incredibly juvenile.
Yes, I'm not making much sense, acting for better, more adult jokes in a Sandler movie, but I disagree with that a LOT. He's done some funny movies, and there is no reason everything had to be so black and white in terms of sexual preference.
There could have been a very funny movie in here, but instead acts rather homophobic about itself instead of being more accepting, of style and better jokes.
And Damn if it couldn't have been an R rated movie to get it's point across a little bit better.
Not quite the worst film i ve seen but pretty poor for sure..i know Adam sandler films can be lacking in class but they do generally make me laugh and entertain, this rarely did either. Must try harder ..
" i eat pieces of *beep* like you for breakfast !!" " ..you eat pieces of *beep* for breakfast !!???"
The sight of bad ass Ving Rhames walking into the showers with his tattoos and scars, and then singing "I'm Every Woman" how isn't that funny? Plus even if you aren't affirmed in your sexuality enough to not be bothered by the homosexual material, how could you not like Jessica Biel in skimpy outfits?
