Alternative Couple- Matt and Lyla in Season 2

People comment on them barely interacting on the show but I think this would have been an interesting development. It would have pissed off basically everyone, Julie obviously, Tyra out of sympathy for Julie since Lyla dated her former boyfriend too, Riggins, Jason, probably Coach Taylor since it would hurt Julie and he might feel like Matt was betraying Jason. It seems like they kind of go together with their relatively mellow personalities and Lyla might want a "nice guy" rebound after the Riggins drama.

They can break up at the end of the season or beginning of S3 (maybe she ends up cheating on him with Riggins) and Matt gets back together with Julie as normal. Plus it would have spared us the boring "Lyla at church" storyline in S2. Also her giving him the kiss on the cheek and lingering look in the funeral scene would have actually had some meaning. It was kind of a nice moment anyway but just felt random since they never even spoke on the show.
