The perfect so bad it's good movie
It works great as a comedy
shareI think it's just plain bad. I saw it once when it came out and didn't like it. Decided to give it another chance today but it's unwatchable.
shareIt was definitely a super-disappointing movie. There was a lot of hype about it being R-rated after the first AvP was PG-13 but the rating didn't help. The first film, despite being somewhat neutered by the rating, is a much better movie.
shareYeah the first one is much better. I wouldn't necessarily call it a good movie but it's a fun watch. And it's actually well acted and you can see what's going on unlike in this pos.
shareI know a lot of people have a hard time praising the first film because they think it could've been much better--and it's true that it could have--but I think it's an enjoyable popcorn movie. I saw it in the theater and bought it on DVD and have rewatched it a handful of times. I like it well enough.
Paul W.S. Anderson I think is actually an underrated director. He makes fun movies and when he's at his best, he's pretty good.
Yes it could have been much better, but I like it even though I kind of hate the ending where she teams up with the predator and that ruins the movie for me a little. But it has good stuff in it and I've rewatched it multiple times so it does have it's charm.
I do like some of his movies. Avp, Death Race, Event Horizon, the first Resident Evil and Soldier are fun. But he's made more bad than good movies.
While the whole thing with teaming up with the Predator seems a bit silly, if Predators were real, I could see it as a possibility. Predators seems relatively human-like, rational beings, and I could see one making a decision to join forces to vanquish a greater foe.
To your list of Anderson films, I would add Mortal Kombat and, while my overall feelings were mixed on them, I also enjoyed The Three Musketeers and Pompeii. In fact, I bought Pompeii on Blu-Ray.
I have a soft spot for all the Alien and Predator movies, especially Alien movies. I like them all more or less. Except avpr.
I've never seen The Tree Musketeers. I know I saw Pompeii and I have a feeling I didn't care for it, but I honestly don't remember anything about it. I should check It out again because I love disaster movies, even many of the not so good ones.
It doesn't even reach that 'height'. It's just God-awful.
