I am not religious but this is a film that explores so many themes and it makes you think. What I find stupid is how people rush to see garbage and the best films of the year barely make it through. Hollywood has destroyed cinema and that's a shame.
Sadly, Hollywood is mostly only interested in appealing to fanboys which is why we get so many comic book movies and why a director of Martin Scorsese's stature had to wait 30 years to make something else.
I understand the need to go to movies to escape the craziness of the modern world, but when there is so little room for thoughtful movies that require thought for longer than 10 minutes after the closing credits have begun things have gone too far in one direction.
It's always hilarious to see delusional, insecure, retarded snobs all pissed off. I'm glad this painfully dull, pretentious, self-indulgent garbage has flopped.
Anti-intellectualism is both disgusting and dangerous. People like you were probably shooting people for wearing glasses in revolutionary Russia.

The only delusional, insecure imbecile is you. Cinema is dying out and films like the Godfather, Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, Casablanca, Goodfellas and other masterpieces of cinema would not be made today, because of mental midgets like you who watch crap films with no meaning. Go watch your popcorn flick and argue which superhero is better. Silence is not a film for you.
No matter what you, this movie still a painfully dull, pretentious, self-indulgent garbage that's as entertaining as staring at a wall.
I thought the movie was excellent and didn't find it dull for even a second. What is getting boring, however, is a troll like you trashing things to get a rise out of people. Why don't you get a life or simply go and discuss movies that you enjoyed?
Since you said the words, why don't you at least expand on what you found pretentious and self-indulgent about this film? Answering that you are too dumb to understand is perfectly acceptable.

I'm More angry this film is gonna get snubbed and lose to a musical that is clearly overrated . Well acted sure but we seen these movies before . Silence was New and fresh

your use of the word 'clearly' implies you haven't even SEEN the film. how can you imply it is overrated? it is a visionary and visual masterpiece. I myself I am excited to see both 'silence' (and 'hacksaw ridge") but i'm not a snob to those movies. some people just want to be distracted at the cinema.

I feel LaLa Land is a terrific film. Is it a serious think piece? It's not as serious as a film like Silence, however, if you visit the LaLa Land boards(Trolls aside), there is no shortage of emotional, psychological, behavioral issues to discuss. It's the opposite of Silence. It is light, upbeat and colorful, however it contains core issues involving relationships and the cost of success that, to the multitudes of us regular folk, resonates more than this significant but distant tale.

exactly this. saying 'la la land' has nothing to say is like saying 'zootopia' wasn't a metaphor for something. ARE PEOPLE PAYING ATTENTION?

I have seen both. La La Land is enjoyable and I liked it, however it is extremely overrated. Any "core issues" shown are dealt with in a manner worthy of a television show, and it seems like people are really trying to stuff meaning where there isn't really any depth.
