At any rate, unlike many, I did enjoy the movie overall, but I don't see why they wouldn't have had Fred and Wanda adopt "Slam".

I think it was better that he was adopted into a different family, but Fred was there for him as a baseball coach. It shows not only Fred is still there for him but other kids that needed guidance.
I do think it was a little weird that the only black elf was the DJ, but not sure I would call it racist.

I presume Fred did not adopt Slam because one day Slam will get very old and wonder why his dad still looks the same!
