Am I the ONLY comic book fan that LOVES these movies?

I grew up reading the FF along with other Marvel titles. I'm a DC fan and love the optimism of their characters (save Batman - though he's cool). Thats probably why I love the FF. It's because they're not all angsty. They're heroes because the choose to be instead of a vengence/discrimination route most Marvel titles take on. Mainly because they were created to rival The Justice League.

But they hit the nail on the head with these films. The first family of Marvel is corny and full of cheese. If you dont like that, then you wont like these films. Therefore, to say these aren't good films are incorrect regarding the SOURCE MATERIAL.

I enjoyed watching this film more than The Dark Knight (which was excellent).

Sue me.

Thanks for saying that, I totally agree. If they did other movies, or did them different, what I would like to see is them actually being even more grandiose, ie, having bizarre close-ups where people are talking about how doomed they are, and so forth, to sort of match the Kirby and Buscema eras. I love that stuff. FF was never grim and gritty, at least for the 30 or so years worth of their comics I've read, they were grandiose and operatic, though always with a bit of earthiness, and Ben Grimm, the Han Solo of the series, being the most contemporary voice. But I think these films did more right than they did wrong, the effect of watching this film is a bit like reading a 3 issue story arc with the mix of fun and grandeur.

I enjoyed both of the movies this one even more. Silver Surfer on the big screen was a no brainer. The only thing I did not like was turning the human torch into The Super Skrull
