Why did Alba look so different?

Why did the filmmakers decide to make Jessica Alba look so different in this movie? Did anyone else notice how she was more tan, blond and had bluer eyes? I thought she looked great in the first film, but she just looked weird in the second one, especially her eyes. It just looked fake, in my opinion.

Wow... this thread over a year old, three pages long and and only one person half-answered the question.

Jessica Alba looks different in this movie because she refused to dye/bleach/whatever her hair. Apparently, whatever they did to her hair in the first film damaged it so she opted to wear a wig in the second film..

Well, for the first FF movie, she dyed her hair blond but it damaged her hair. For the sequel, she wore wigs. That explains the hair bit. I don't know about her skin tone and eye color.

Alba looked more real in the first one. I think in the second one they were trying harder to capture her comic book look and play it up to be a visuallly opposing character to off set the Silver Surfer.

So make her look a bit more out there and Silver Surfer looks a bit more human. Sort of a compare and contrast views kind of thing, only instead of playing with light and darkness your playing with bright and shiny silver and bold outstanding color.

Not sure if Im making sense here, but if im not hit me back and let me know and ill try to clear it up a bit more.

Correct me if Im wrong, but Sue looks different as time goes on because of her powers.

And saying she's hiding her ethnicity is retarded. She's playing a role that demands a certain look. Are we now supposed to denounce every production where an actor changes their look to fit the character? Sad morons picking apart anything more successful than themselves. You probably criticize the garbage man because he actually has a job.

The extra blond hair (very bad wig!) did go well with the extra tan.

jessica alba was on fire, while hanging up side down naked? the silver surfer was naked while on a surfer board?

It was a shame for her to use the wig and blue contact lenses in this movie.

She looked very fake. She looked SO much better in the first movie.

If they're trying to make her look more comic book, they should have stuck with a blond actress with naturally blue eyes.

Trying to make her look more comic book - IOW white - didn't work. She just looked very creepy.

It wouldn't matter so much, except she's supposed to be related to the Johnny character and she looks nothing like him.

she looked better in the first movie. It seemed more natural.

I definitely noticed the difference. In the first movie her hair wasn't nearly so pale and had both high and low lights. It better contrasted with her skin. She's not naturally blond so making her that pale (as well as flat with no variations) was a bad choice, to me she looked like a vanilla pudding and I found it distracting. Similar to how Ben looked kinda different and I found that distracting as well.

It's a pity, she's a beautiful brunette, but they had to make her blond or people would complain about her not looking like Susan Storm enough. I don't think her eyes are paler, it might just be a side effect of her being so pale otherwise, but who knows!
