The movie that helps to show how stupid people really are

After reading all the "I don't get this, this doesn't work, this movie sucks" posts on this thread, and after watching it, I have come to the conclusion this is one of those movies that the general public is too stupid to understand, which is really quite pitiful. Most of you on this board that didn't understand even one thing in this movie deserve a smack upside the head.

At it's most basic core, this is a love story. A guy who is so hopelessly smitten with a girl he cannot work up the courage to just talk to, one who asks around to find out things about her, who, truthfully, resorts to some seriously creepy tactics, gets trapped in a car with the girl in the dead of night in the freezing cold. Aside from the 'ghosts', this entire movie shows the progress of the girl and how she matures and comes to understand that the way she has been living life is not the way to be. She comes to appreciate human life, comes to understand that love, even if it does end up being fleeting, can be a powerful thing. Despite everything he did wrong, he still got into her heart through perserverance and by being himself, and in the end she cared and was saddened by his death, so much so that she was looking fondly at the photo of him on her cell phone and shed even more tears for him. This, DESPITE everything that happened to her throughout the night. She didn't show elation at finally being out of the woods, away from the car, away from the cop ghost....she was only saddened by the fact that he didn't make it out with her. The final conversation between her and his ghost at the end and the tears she cries while looking at his photo in the last shot speak worlds about this. Yet most of you just focus on the fact "it didn't scare me, there was no blood and guts in an r rated movie, blah blah blah" like stupid simple sheep.

This is an amazing movie. It's a combination of a romance/drama and ghost flick. The ghosts only serve to bring the guy and girl together and strengthen their short lived bond. Not a single one of you understands or gets this, and you focus more on the ghosts than the nameless main characters and even shun the fact that they are nameless. It's an attempt to get you to care more about their character and personality instead of their damn name. Would it really have made a difference if they were named, oh say, Jennifer and Billy? More than likely you idiots probably would have just gone through the movie spouting idiotic crap like 'damn, that jennifer is a hottie, go billy, get with that hoe' and on and on. Nobody appreciates an actual decent movie anymore....and it's incredibly sad just how pathetically stupid the human race has become.

Might be , there are many stupid people out there , but who the hell are You to judge them ? Did You wrote the script to the movie or slept with the director , that You can maintain , it´s all about a great love story and just that´s the truth , what You think to see in it ???? Just look into the mirror first !!

Good post.
I agree, I think this movie should've had more publicity...it's a great movie.
I like it better when the people don't have names..I don't know why, but it adds more mystery to it for me, if that makes any kind of sense. [Doubt it.]

Well, I guess I am one of those pathetic retards. I watch this movie twice just to see if it was me or flipping your scenario on how a film like this could be allowed to be made. Some one must have really owed some favors. I do know one thing and that is 100 people do not tell the same lie. This movie should have never been made.

I love how people think there so smart because of there taste in movies. If thats the case then the handfull of people who actualy liked this godawful film should'nt be wasting there time on imdb boards please for the good of humanity go cure cancer or something.

reply

Close, I help cure heart disease. hey, I am not hating on you for liking the movie. I have been around this joint a longgggggggg time. You on the other hand have not even been here a year but I will give you a pass on that. Stop hating on people because they do not like your movies. They have a rating system here 1- 10 for a purpose. In MY OPINION this movie was awful. And I will say it again. A 100 people do not tell the same lie. Meaning if you say you love it and 100 people says it sucks, guess what pal, its sucks.

What a stupid logic. First of all taste has no criteria. And basically you're saying that the masses are always right or just the magic number 100 cause im sure we can find 100 who liked it. Same old *beep* different day

Good Grief! It is a "metaphor"! It goes "100 people do not tell the same lie"! I prefix my deal by saying I am not hating on you because you loved it. I was trying to teach you some more criteria for "taste". "Sounds travels slow" Let me know if you need that explained. I still Love ya!

Yes I do get that and I was trying to say somewhat sarcastic that taste has no criteria. It's personal. Let me know if you need that explained. And of course I still love ya.....

My thoughts exactly; this movie doesn't really fit the horror category, not in the sense that most people expected and so were disappointed. The only thing that would have made this better if it was 2 women, even boy/boy instead of the usually boring boy/girl. (o:

This movie would have been better if instead of some stupid supernatural bull crap there was just some guy who liver out in the woods and tortured people.

Yes you can say that again. It shows just how stupid people are. How stupid do you have to be to get into a car cross-country in that kind of weather with an ASS you don't even know? At first I thought well she is gonna get her just desserts for that one dumb move alone. As it all started to unravel on em this was my first thought.

Now I see what you are saying about the lesson she learned but damm, she paid a pretty damm high price to learn a lesson so fundamentally simple. I guess the universe has to sometimes go to great lengths to get us to see common sensical lights often right in front of us, huh.

Now don't get me wrong, the movie was almost classic status, some of the best horror I've seen in quite some time. I enjoyed it. But rule number one. Never get into a car with an ASS you don't even know to go anywhere, much less cross country in the snow. Now THAT is truly stoopid!

OP, I see there is absolutely no mention whatsoever of the people who actually paid to see a HORROR movie because that's how they advertised it. You've just spouted off about the film being a "love story" at it's core. Well you see, I don't give a damn about love stories. I like horrors, actions, thrillers, mystery , comedy, but NOT romance. Did it say anywhere on the box that it was a love story disguised as a horror because the ghosts are there to bring this pathetic bond closer together? Did it *beep*!!

BRAVO!! I saw this movie awhile back and I really liked it. I was in a relaxed mood and I liked the whole mood of the movie. I just watched it again and like it even more. I agree with everything you say in your post, take the movie for what it is sometimes you have to do that with some movies. I get tired of people always taking a movie apart and dissecting every single thing about it,they ruin it for themselves by doing this. Why even watch a movie if your're always going to pick it apart......
