I saw it on 4K disc today. It adds some scenes and alters others.
Overall the Theatrical is the better cut, but the Director’s has one scene that they should have left in - Paulie breaking down and apologising to Rock in the alley.
It was nice to see the bar owner from the original get some proper screen time too, although his scene replaces the ‘lady cancer’ scene with Marie and the latter was more effective at explaining Adrian’s sad demise.
Watching it right now (and although it's not the massive overhaul of the recent #4 directors cut) i've already noticed a few (subtle) differences (notably Paulie asleep at Rocky's house at the start...and (I think?) Certain minor scenes have been omitted.
I think some of the dialogue with Rocky and Paulie in the freezer is (somewhat) different also?
I think there’s was expanded stuff about Paulie losing his job to migrant workers, we met one of them which we didn’t in the Theatrical.
It was weird seeing Paulie living with Rocky - in the alleyway scene they mention him living with a woman and he asks Rocky ‘can I move back in?’ We never saw him move in with any woman 🤷🏻♂️ Another reason the Theatrical works better.
There's a deleted scene in the 'extra features', that shows Rocky meeting Paulies girlfriend.
