At first, I thought the movie was set in the present day (at the time, 2007).
Nothing indicated -- to me, at least -- that we were watching a period piece. As far as I could tell, the story could have been set in 2007. So why 1980?
It also makes crime more plausible and tactile because of lack of tech.
shareI didn't mind the year it took place ,but one thing I read about regarding the year 1980 was that it was time of high inflation, high unemployment and gas lines etc. I'm not saying they should've shown the election or anything like that ,but I thought they would have at least show gas lines or something.
