Why didn't William just use the scanner on her?

I mean there was a scanner laying on the ground he could have easily picked up and used on his daughter to confirm if she was a host or not, instead of going ahead and killing her and confirming after she was dead by cutting her arm open.

I mean its a 50/50 chance she could be a host or your actual daughter, why the fuck would you kill her instead of just scanning her to make sure?

reply

I'm not sure she is dead. If I had to bet, I would say she isn't.

reply

Seeing as she was human and took 3 rounds from a machine gun in the chest i'd say shes dead. William survived cause he was just hit in the arms and legs and like 1 bullet got him on the side of his stomach, she got shot multiple times in the chest, aint no coming back from that.

reply

Exactamundo, plus she got hit close to the heart, dead center in her chest. But people want to believe what they want to believe. The way most folks, here think, they expect her to wake up & use those kits to heal herself. Get over it, every character that you like can't automatically make it. C'mon now.

reply

Good question...probably because he has become very paranoid.

reply

If he was thinking rationally then he wouldn't make irrational decisions...like shooting his daughter along with the rest of his employees.

reply

He wanted to kill her because she threatened to shut down his project and take away his fantasy world. Claiming she was a host was just a way for William to give himself an excuse to do it.

reply

Let's think about why she provoked MIB to kill herself(or her host). In EP8, she did promise Akecheta that her way would be much much worse. Even having a little doubt, William feel like in hell now, I guess.

How could he trust the scanner?

“Everything is code” means Ford could have programmed the scanners NOT to read Emily as a host

Besides which, the scanners don’t appear to check for host brains so much as the explosives in their spines. After her upgrades and reconstruction, Maeve would read as human (though all the employees already recognize her as a host), because Felix rebuilt her without the C4.

Did nobody here see the post-credit scene?

Btw: the scanner is not reliable. We know that from seeing Delores passing one in the end and getting on the skiff. They are probably designed to scan for properly manufactured hosts, but the ones specially built by Ford / Bernard / Delores may not be detectable by design.

reply

He would have thought that the scanner itself was part of the conspiracy and falsely identifies hosts as humans because the deception is part of Ford's grand agenda.
