IMO:
Affleck was vey bad (especially the part where he's arguing with the Point Corp CEO...over acting would be an understatement),
But McAdams was much worse. There was some part in the movie where Crowe tells her they're off the story and she replies "Ohhh nooooooo".
It is truly cringeworthy. It is awful. Everytime I think about it I shake my head and try to push it out of my mind. I'm contemplating therapy.
I didn't realise Affleck was in it and so was a bit gutted when he appeared on the screen but I thought he was alright tbh. I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with McAdams. I have literally no idea how you could be so offended by her.

I have long been amazed at "The Affleck effect". It doesn't matter what kind of job he does, a high number of people are going to react very negatively to him. I have experienced this effect myself with some actors, some who get much on-going praise. I figure "it's me" and just avoid those actors films.
When you consider how hard it is to get cast in a major film *and* the limits of your role *and* how much "outside influence" occurs to your vision of the character, it's a very, very small number of people who are truly bad actors.
anyway....
McAdams did the acting job she was hired to do. Not special, but not in any way bad. Affleck did his job as well. I was a little more impressed by Affleck but his character had more range. So the question is better put as "Which actor is better in this?"

I loved RM in The Notebook (I may deny it later as I'm a boy but yes I watched it and quite liked it) but she sucked in this!
I agree with "The Affleck Effect" comment.
Early on when he was riding the wave of Good Will Hunting's success he made some bad choices and was being slotted into the leading man in blockbusters type of slot. Pearl Harbour, Gigli and the Jennifer Lopez relationship in general made him a bit of a laughing stock in the general public domain.
In some people's mind he is destined to fail in every film.
But i think he has changed alot in his movie roles, being smart not to choose everything thrown his way. When he is cast appropriately in a movie, like this one or Hollywoodland, he can be quite effective.

Saw this last night. Overall enjoyable; slightly convoluted ending but the first thing that hit me was Affleck's actin. It was prety cring worthy.
Didn't really have a problem with McAdams first time round but maybe I wasn't expecting much. I'll give her a by ...
I honestly though Affleck particularly did quite a good job. He's not the most talented bloke out of all the actors in the cast but i think he did do a very good job. McAdams had that teenage vibe but that may have been what they were looking for. She didn't distract so i think she was fine.

Affleck. I found McAdams luminous in the role. Maybe I'm just impressed by her charisma and don't care about her acting but Affleck doesn't have that.
