Second viewing = loved it!

Okay, so I saw it at the cinema and I thought it was alright, better than 'Clash of the Titans', but nothing special. Then I watched it on DVD because I had nothing better to do and I actually fell in love with this movie!

But I can't figure out why my opinion changed. Maybe the second time I knew what to expect, a light-hearted Disney family film. I knew my eight year old self would be running around the house role-playing as Tamina.

Anyone else thought it was better the second time they saw it?

The more times I watched it, the better I liked it!

Me too! I think it's because each time I noticed more plot details. The story is really well written and pieced together so nicely.

I felt exactly the same driscoll! I watched it in theaters, and it felt like a let down. But after a second viewing on-demand last night, I like it. I might go buy the blu-ray this week. My first thought was this is better, than Clash of the Titans as well. Im so glad I didn't waste my money seeing it in theaters.

First viewing wasn't so bad either...
I had little interest in the movie when it came out, and just finished watching it on Netflix.
It's a pretty charming retro exotic swashbuckling romp. Made me think of Conan. Good supporting cast (Alfred Molina in particular). Not spectacular, but a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon rental.

Sure it's not the best movie out there, but I found it quite entertaining to say the least. Better than a lot of recent movies anyways.

I loved it at first go itself, pity that it didnt become a big blockbuster, anyway looking forward to the sequel in 2013 :)

The EXACT same thing happened to me, I kid you not!

The first time I saw it I thought it was alright (as you said, nothing special), but the second time I watched it I was completely enamored! Now it's one of my favorites! I can't really figure out why my opinion changed either. I think, like you, it's because as a kid I would have been all over this type of movie. I mean, come on, sometimes there's nothing like a sword and sandal action/adventure movie with magic and a dash of romance thrown in ;)
