to the awful actor who played Tupac...

Don't know what your name is, nor do I care.

Your interpretation of Tupac in this movie was shameful.

Straight up embarassing.

Thank god your screentime in this movie was less than 10 minutes total. Otherwise, I couldn't possibly finish watching this movie.

Find another job. Acting isn't your thing.

OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!!! -APPLAUSE-

THANK. YOU.

He was/ is TERRIBLE!!!! I hope I do NOT see him in ANYTHING, EVER AGAIN!!!! His scenes were SO hard to watch. I was ashamed for him... smh.

reply

One more thing... They would have been better off holding up a TuPac poster and playing one of his songs, during his scenes.

Anthony Mackie is a pretty good actor.. his only crime was that he was not Tupac.. who else could they have gotten to play him that can do an actual acting job on screen?

This is for Allah... and it's going way out there sucka...

reply

anthony mackie actually is a good actor, look at him on some spike lee movies ftw.

however, yes his acting in this was shocking, but i don't think there's anything he could do. he was probably just overwhelmed, i mean this is tupac...he really was a unique character...even tough for the best of actors to play.

reply

That's the difference between an actor and a character actor, he's fantastic in the hurt locker, simply because he's playing 'anyone', in notorious he's playing someone that almost anyone who sees the movie is familiar with, if you don't play the character and simply read the lines it isn't gonna work.

I thought the way Anthony Mackie introduced himself as Tupac was pretty much as good as it gets, even if he doesn't have the physical resemblance to Pac. The way he was messin' with the guy who approached him in the beginning, and then took a 100 degree turn around and said he was only *beep* with the guy. That's pretty much the way Tupac behaved. He was schizophrenic as hell. And he was always on 10 full blast. So it was hard to tell when he was just playin' or when he was serious. And then he'd go on full attack since he was solipsist, that is he thought only his existence was real, and nothing outside of himself existed. Don't get me wrong. That full attack disregarding all threats around you is the thing that propelled him in the same way Little Richard and James Brown could angrily scream their message to a fearful world. And Sticky Fingas, and DMX can growl like an animal. But Pac was a little guy with the strength of 10 like the insects can carry 100 times their weight. I just thought the way Mackie went postal and berserk at the drop of a dime was pretty much the way the real man behaved in life. Word?

When Hurt Locker won best picture. Jumping around like a damn fool, but at-least people know who he is and will be in more than just Hood movies.

Anthony Mackie is a great actor, he was brilliant in Half Nelson and The Hurt Locker, I think for The Hurt Locker he deserved an Oscar nomination and possibly a win.

Second chances are rare man, you shoud learn to take better advantage of em'

reply

Hey geniuses. You're welcome to have your opinion, but he was just in an Oscar film that won best picture. The Hurt Locker. His name is Anthony Mackie and while he is a fairly talented actor, his Tupac wasn't that great and it's not because of his performance. Just bad casting. Mackie was also in We Are Marshall and gave a great performance in that. You can't blame the actor for a part he shouldn't be in.

reply

You are entitled to your own opinion, but to say that Anthony Mackie is an "awful" actor is ridiculous. I don't know your qualifications to judge his performance as an actor, but he has received 15 acting nominations from different accredited sources, with one of the most recent ones for "Best Supporting Male" from the 2009 Independent Spirit Awards for his performance in The Hurt Locker. He has been in many good films that perhaps you have not seen (review his acting roles). Anthony Mackie is an excellent actor and much in demand. I believe he already has four films in production for 2010.

Coincidentally I watched the Hurt Locker and then Notorious consecutively last night without knowing Anthony Mack was in either and let me say, he was awesome in Hurt Locker....not so awesome in Notorious. My brother was saying none of the actors from Hurt Locker deserved were award-worthy because they were very easy roles to act. After seeing Mack play TuPac, maybe my bro had a point.
But then again this happens to actors often. For example, look at John Travolta. His performance in Pulp Fiction was brilliant, Oscar-worthy, then he put a bunch of crap out like Battleship Earth. Doesnt really make sense. I guess some roles just hit home with the actor more than others. Anthony Mack was simply miscast as Pac (but then again he was great as Papa Doc).

reply

he wasn't very good in this, but see the Hurt Locker. He's fantastic in it.

I think Anthony Mackie is a good actor. Just not as Tupac. His voice wasnt nearly dark, though, he did get the part for his role in a play in which he starred as Pac.I do however think ir was very odd that in 2 movies about rap/Hip hop that he;s been in...not ONE rhyme.

I think that if they ever make a bio pic that they consider Romany Malco from the show Weeds, and the 40 Year Old Virgin to play Pac.

reply

Anthony was 'notoriously' miscast as Tupac. I can understand the dilemma, because the ONLY person I've seen who can come even remotely close to playing Tupac was Lamont Bentley who is dead.
And it certainly didn't help that toward the end of the movie they wrote off Tupac as some sort of nut job, while Puffy and Biggie just sat there bewildered.

reply

Are you kidding? This was the most realistic portrayal of 2Pac, ever! The guy was a volatile nutcace, like a black, bald, skinny version of a Joe Pesci character, and Mackie played him as such.
