Had Biggie and Tupac lived. Would they have sold out?

Would Biggie still try to keep his rhymes real the way he did when he was 22 or become like Jay Z and LL Cool J and live a movie star's life.

Would 2pac try actual singing instead of rhyming like how Diddy and Akon does now a days. Or would he still representing Thug Life.

I like to think had they lived, there wouldn't be the Lil Wayne and T-pain garbage hip hop there is now.

This is for Allah... and it's going way out there sucka...

Really? If i remember correctly, while he was incarcerated in 1995, Tupac said he was through with "thug life" and that he was committed to changing the world. So if thats selling out, than *beep* Me

He was a total fraud and phony.

He was a millionaire. If he kept making the exact same kind of music as Ready to Die, then he would have been a fraud and a phony.

Have some sense.

Puffy would've convinced Big to do Autotune. He'd have been in a similar place Jay-Z is in now, with Puffy playing a slightly more hands-on Dame Dash type of role. Jay-Z, well, he'd still be successful, but not as much as he was when Biggie died and left a massive void in the West Coast scene. Jigga would be similar to Jadakiss, but Jay's very business savy and knows how to make commercial hits, so perhaps slightly more popular than Jada on the mainstream level. The whole feud with Nas probably wouldn't have happened as well.

2Pac would've been trying to reinvent himself and grab everyone's attention (would've gotten along great with Lady Gaga) by claiming to "change the world" every several years, and telling everyone of his impending death, which we'd have all gotten sick of and wished would happen any day now. Better yet, there wouldn't be any 13-year-old, youtube-trolling, dick-riding posers who worship the ground Pac walks on and pretend they were alive at the peak of his popularity, who wear their $3 bandanas in a similar fashion and throw up their fake-looking hand signals every chance they get.

Tupac was a revolutionary as far am i'm concerned, he would of changed/saved hip hop and go on to become a great actor.

Tupac did sell out he died trying to get his soul back..If he would've lived everyone would be listening to him to this day...He would have changed the world! "Opened Everybodys Eyes!"

You shot me in my stomach! I'm gon' die now probably! I had y'all over for dinner-Fish tacos!

Biggie was always trying to get money, and he stayed trying to learn more ways in which he could. Puffy was running him through how A&R worked as he wanted to eventually excel his career through creating his own label. If you really want a slightly more truer picture of big's life check out 'the rise and rise of notorious big (driven)' on youtube.
In terms of the music BIG would have carried on making, I would see him going down a similar route to Jay-Z and going more commercial. Jay in the 90's was also one of the rawest emcees and is known amongst many 'hip-hop heads' as one of the greatest lyricists, however he say's it himself 'i dumbed down for my audience and double my dollars'. You can't really criticise artists for doing this, as keeping with the times is the only way to keep your career going. As sad as it is, lyricism doesn't sell like it did back in the 90's so if BIG was to stay the same he probably would have eventually fell off around the mid 2000's.

...but at the end of the day no-one really knows what today's hip-hop scene would be like if BIG and Pac were still alive, however all we do know is that their legacy will still remain and they will always be remembered as the greatest hip hip icons of all time.

Biggie? Yes

Tupac? No

If 2Pac had not died, I could have seen him making more radio friendly songs by collaborating with more pop and r&b artists. I don't think a middle aged 2Pac would have still been recording gangsta rap songs similar to "Hit Em Up" and "2 Of America's Most Wanted".

They woulda sold out. I mean look at Snoop,Ice Cube,LL Cool J,Dr. Dre, it's sad.

To him mercy is passion With me it is good manners. You may judge which motive is more reliable

If Pac continued to live and rap, he would have been shot eventually as he had a big mouth and often picked fights. I could see Pac leaving Suge eventually though due to ego and money issues.

Biggie would be running his own company but rapping less like Jay-Z.

they definitely would have sold out bc when it all boils down to it, they are in it to win it. Money is all that matters. Were we surprised when Snoop came out with all this bvllsh!t he comes out with now? Would we have ever thought that Ice Cube would be making corny family movies and tv shows? Would Lil Wayne still be where he is today if Biggie and Tupac were alive? Of course. They most likely would have all made a remix on a song together bc it's about money. It's just how life goes, one decade it's about east coast v west coast, the next it's all about the south, the next, who knows? Name me one top hiphop artist that hasn't sold out yet? Even P. Diddy sold out and that was Big's right hand man.

Take some Flinstones vitamins and grow the fvck up!

Ghostface Killah hasn't sold out yet.. He still ghetto after all these years.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h4eHELW65M Too bad he hardly gets any airplay or videos on rotation.

Rza and Meth sorta did but their acting is pretty good, so you can't hate on them too much.

Really? Ghostface? He's lived up to his name because no one has seen or heard from him in years. He is a ghost. And believe you me, if he had to chance to sellout and make more money being mainstream, he would.

reply

That video was from 2011.. and he made that song with Neyo a few years back that was huge.. You're right, he's not able to be a sellout because Corporate America can't market his keepin it real.

good god you 90's baby's and white folks kill me lol clearly none of you remember when 2pac and biggie were around and i hate how people act like 2pac was only big after he died but i remember like cooked food when 2pac was EVERYWHERE every time you turned on the tv there he was biggie i can understand because really he was only looked at like a god that hes seen as today in new york but he only released 2 albums while 2pac had 4 albums out while alive plus one with thug life he was in quite few movies and praised for his acting ability just as much as his rapping hell i remember being bused from my neighborhood to white schools where the white kids couldn't name any other rapper but 2pac and maybe ll or vanilla ice or mc hammer but for the most it was 2pac back then when you thought of rap you thought of pac he was a legend before he died if he had lived he would have more than likely stopped rapping and focused on acting he even said he would do broad way plays and working with the community you have to understand when he was on death row he had just got out of prison he was betrayed by several close friends and was very angry and being on death row brought it out of him even more because that was the kind of environment it was but he more than likely would have left and went back to his roots tupac didn't get in the game for money yea he wanted to make a living but he really did have a message to get across and had an attitude towards music that most rock musicians had biggie would have left bad boy had he lived and would be on jay z level today he and faith evans would have probably been a power couple and i don't think his style would hae changed considering the fact that mainstream rap today tries to emulate him tupac probably would drop a few mixtapes but never in the mainstream though some say his style changed he got a bit more aggressive but tupac was always set in his style and i don't think it would ever change
