It was a movie that came on Life Time and it was about a teacher who changed those kids life around. I don't know the name of it but one girl dad had almost sold her for drugs and one dude didn't graduate because he got expelled for punching the principal.
shareI love that everyone on here forgets two of the first in this line of movie-making. To Sir, With Love and Stand and Deliver. Two greats. I think those two (and this film, surprisingly) are actually much better than Dangerous Minds, Coach Carter, et al.

Way before To Sir, with Love, there was Blackboard Jungle. Sydney Poitier is also in the cast (but playing a student) and this film has the merit of being, at the same time, the first teacher-deals-with-a-difficult-group-of-students movie and the first rock'n'roll movie.
sharei actually agree 100 percent this moved seemed to copy dangerous mind theme. It bugged me , dangerous mind was way better this movie seemed too much of trying category to make it.

shareThere is a hallmark movie that is sort of similiar called beyond the black board. But it wouldn't be the movie you're thinking of as it came out in 2011 but its not bad and its also a true story.
shareI think I've seen at least 4 other films similar to this one which made it a veeery predictable film to watch. Only thing missing is for one of the kids to become a best selling author. It is a well made film but come on, can't they find new stories to tell. Feels like recycling the same material.

With all of these "teacher as superhero" films, it's no wonder that people are still Waiting for Superman.
I find it strange no one has mentioned Dead Poets Society as a similar movie.
